Reviews

Your idea of love is a dog’s lust,” says Chandru, his face twisting with rage. “Don’t equate it with my pure devotion for Kiran.” The rest of his words are lost in the whistles and catcalls of the young, largely male audience; the few girls watching wipe their eyes surreptitiously. “The audience for this movie is mostly teenage, and the male-female ratio is 75:25,” said the manager of the Bangalore-based theatre where we had gone to see the Kannada blockbuster, Preethse. Preethse is actual.

“She loves me - loves me not; loves me - loves me not….” Standing on the top of Bangalore’s tallest building, Chandru (Upendra) gets back his spirit to live as he ends up with the petal saying ’she loves me’. No, it is not love; it is just his obsession.

Chandru is mesmerised by the stunning Kiran (Sonali Bendre), his college mate. Unable to express his love, he starts making anonymous calls to her in a haunting voice saying, ‘I love you, Kiran’. He talks about his love only to his dead mother over the phone, whom he loves deeply. He plays all possible tricks to make Kiran aware of his love. But Kiran, oblivious to all this, is in love with Surya (Shiv Raj Kumar), who works in the Navy. Eventually, they tie the knot also. Chandru, who is obsessed with Kiran is unable to digest this and goes to the extent of even killing Surya to get his love.

Preethse Preethse movie is a triangular love story where Yogesh and Pragnya are in lead roles. It is an inspiration for lovers, especially to express the love, inspire and finally care for her.
"Preethse Preethse" was a hugely expected film because of its hero Yogish who had acted in three super hit films earlier. But in his fourth film, Yogish is handicapped by a run of the mill story which has a tedious narration.

Despite some good song presentations, "Preethse Preethse" fails to enthuse the audience because of an illogical screenplay.

Though it is a story revolving around a dejected lover, director Maadesh has failed to bring in any emotional intensity in the narration.

"Preethse Preethse" presents its hero Yogish as a young man from a rich family, quite in contrast to his three earlier roles.

Maadesh who has written the story and screenplay of the film has failed to present Yogish realistically in the film.

The film suffers mainly on account of a below average script.

Maadesh has made a mess of the narration and has not cared to focus on the emotional complications of a misunderstood lover.

He has tried to boost the image of the hero by including a ridiculous song. Everything in the story becomes predictable after some time.

Akash (Yogish) is liked by his rich parents who are prepared to do anything for him. He leads a happy-go-lucky life in college until he meets Aishwarya. Bipasha, a family friend of Akash in-turn is in love with him.

Akash is unable to express his feelings to Aishwarya. He begins to live in an illusionary world. Many people in college believe that both of them are in love.

Aishwarya, meanwhile gets engaged, and Akash turns into a mental wreck. He finally recovers and returns to college a changed man, and now it is Aishwarya who woos him.

Yogish is too young to deliver results in such a strong role of huge emotional overtones.

Malayalam actress Udaya Tara has not been used properly. Rangayana Raghu has two roles in the film and overacts in both of them. Veterans Jai Jagadish, Ramesh Bhat, Sangeetha and P.N.Sathya fit the bill.

Music director Anoop Sileen has come out with some good tunes. Songs like "Preethse Preethse", "Loose Maada", "Urige Baare" are well picturised.

Overall, "Preethse Preethse" is just ordinary fare.Preethse Preethse movie is a triangular love story where Yogesh and Pragnya are in lead roles. It is an inspiration for lovers, especially to express the love, inspire and finally care for her.

Akash (Yogish) is a rich man, who falls in love with Aishwarya (Udayatara). Akash will not express his love. Bipasha (Pragnya) likes him, but soon she will come to know that he likes Aishwarya. Akash saves her father from an accident. Aiwharya starts wooing Akash, but he stops responding her after knowing about her engagement. How these lovers will reunite will forms the rest of the story.

Length is the main drawback of this film ‘Preethse Preethse’. The concept of hallucination in the protagonist is tried out rather in a boring style. The crisp handling is lacking from director Madesh who gave a super hit ‘Gaja’ in the last year. Had he limited his elastic style of presentation and added more twists to the first half this would have been a quite convincing film for the youths. However the songs, cinematography actor Yogish and Pragna gives a striking performance.

Timid and love fearing Akash (Yogish) grown up in affluence is good in everything but not when it comes to expressing love to Aishwarya (Udayathara). Instead of telling his thoughts to Aishwarya he goes on dreaming about her. This turns out to be real for the viewers on the screen but for Aishwarya it is senseless. In fact she had met Akash only twice in the 10 plus reels of the film. The imagination of Akash is a sickening issue for him and after knowing that Aishwarya is engaged he pierces a glass in his stomach but saved with proper medical care. When the parents of Aishwarya and Akash are ready for the proposal it becomes quite interesting. Yet Akash is not able to express his love. Knowing the zenith of love of Akash from others Aishwarya starts really loving him. Once again the disease of timidity in Akash he abstain from delivering his thoughts. The open hearted Bipasha (Pragna) always engaging Akash and giving some relief to the audience exit from the life of Akash with grace.

Yogish has the right kind of role for his screen image. He has danced well and fights are brilliant. The dialogue delivery is so casual that does not suit throughout the film. He needs to improve in his variations of dialogues. Pragna as the sacrifice heroine does well to give peppy moments. She is the heroine to watch in the coming days. Udayathara has emoted well. Jai Jagdish and Ramesh Bhat rendered admirable support. Rangayana Raghu in triple role for the first time in his career is drilling.

Anoop Seelin has given the right tunes for the screen image of Yogish. The songs Loose Madha…..Sundara Sundra….title track Preethse Preethse…are very good. Veenus Murthy has worked hard to give pleasant treat to the eyes.

This is not a very convincing but confusing film.
