Tamil movie ANTHONY YAAR 2009 Watch tollywood & download Free,Wallpapers, movie review & cast and crew and trailers online

Anthony Yaar
(Tamil) Movie

General Release Date: 01 Aug 2009
Running Time: 2 Hours 40 Minutes,
Distributor: Five Star
Cast: Shaam,Mallika Kapoor,Lal
Director: Pandi C T
Music Director: Deena
Language: Tamil

After playing a soft hero in many movies, Shaam now ventures to do a rough and tough fishermans role in Anthony Yaar.

The movie is being produced by Annam Films International in association with Mukund Productions. Directed by C T Pandi, Mallika Kapoor plays Shaams heroine.

Says the director, Recently, we shot a few important scenes on the shores near Nagercoil. We created a fishermens hamlet. Mallika Kapoor, who visits the hamlet, falls in love with Shaam. There are enough twists and turns in the movie leading to a thrilling climax.

Anthony Yaar? film narrates the tale of a baby who was abandoned in a boat by the seashore, close to a fishing hamlet. The baby is adopted by the church nearby and he grows up under the care of the priest there. He becomes one in the village, joins the men for fishing and shows very little interest in studies. Good at heart and hard working, he provides much needed help to many people in and around the hamlet.

Mallika Kapur is a young college student from a wealthy family. While researching the lives of fishermen she comes across Shaam and is instantly attracted to this man with a heart of gold. But, her family is expectedly dead against her wishes and they try to finish off Shaam forever. Does that happen? Is he killed, does he come back?.

It really makes us doubted whether Shaam has gone scatter-brained on choosing flimsy scripts. He had a great break through on his Telugu movie 'Kick'. But still, here's a film that will wash off his earned reputation. 'Antony Yaar' is a film that portrays him in the role of a savior of fisherman community who fights against the baddies. There isn't anything appreciative about the film and here goes the synopsis.

The film centers on Antony (Shaam) an orphan by birth being raised by the church father (Rajesh). He dwells one amongst the fisherman community across the seashores and their area is owned by Michael (Director Lal), a ruffian. The entire film is about Antony getting ahead seeking for justice of innocent fisherman who is always troubled by Michael.

So, what happens next? Watch the pathetic results on the screens if you can...

As mentioned earlier, the film has nothing in special to speak about. Shaam can better keep away from such films if he wants to survive in film industry. Malikka Kapoor has lost her charm in debut film and she has nothing to do here. Vivek indeed tries his level best in entertaining the audiences with comedy tracks. But that doesn't exceed your expectations and never help saving the ship from sinking.

None of the technical aspects are convincing. Songs are not worthy heeding to and cinematographer is so amateurish.

On the whole, 'Antony Yaar' is a film that has no probabilities of surviving at box office.

Review
In 1847, Lord Arthur Barring asks a watchmaker to invent a postal stamp. However, an Indian governor laughs because there are some mistakes on the stamp. Lord Arthur Barring got angry and decided to throw away the stamp. 160 years later, Barring's grandchild, Charles Barring IV, produces the stamp at a press conference, now worth millions of ringgit. Scheming Joe (Afdlin Shauki) and Sid (Rashidi Ishak) want to steal the stamp. However, they are not alone.

korang kenal khabir bhatia? dr seorg pengarah filem, skang dia buat setem plak... ok, joking jer. 'Setem' ialah sebuah filem baru khabir bhatia yg dikuarkan bersama tayangan unggul. dijangka kuar tahun ni, tp xsure plak exact tarikh.

ok, ingat lagi filem2 khabir bfore this? Cinta, Love, Sepi? first class cinematography, playing with human emotion, great music, few stories in a movie. Even xdpt smbutan yg dasyat dr penonton (esp malaysian), tp dia berada dlm class dia yg tersendiri. Maybe income xgempak, tp cite dia gempak! aku pun xfaham org malaysia, bangsa stereotype kot, xnk think out of the box.

so tgk result movie2 sblm ni, khabir pun take decision utk change the genre... genre yg pd aku lebey digemari rakyat malaysia -komedi. Setem (masih mengekalkan lg 1 word title, just like previous movie), mengisahkan sekeping setem custom made yg dipanggil 'Barring Setem'. Setem ni dibuat oleh gabenor melaka taun 1847 iaitu Lord Arthur Barring. Masa mmula siap setem tu, dia pun tunjukkan la ngan bangganya kt gabenor india.. belek punya belek, tgk2 ada error kt setem tu... so gabenor India tu pun gelak sakan ar kt Authur. Bengang kena gelak, dia pun buang setem tu...

Masa berlalu, smpai la ke taun 2008... penyambung warisan Authur, Charles Barring IV buat kenyataan akhbar kt A'Famosa n buat pameran brg2 warisan keluarga dia. one of it ialah Setem Barring. rupa2nya dulu cucu Authur amik semula n simpan setem yg kene buang tu. Since setem tu sangat bernilai, so ramai la yg plan nk curik setem tu... antaranya ialah Sid & Joe, yg dipaksa oleh pak ramli sbb terhutang budi, ketua kumpulan ah long bernama Piranha Lim, dan Vellu, driver pengawal keselamatan yg akan bwk setem tu.

Overheard (Cantonese) Movie

Genre: Thriller / Drama / Crime
General Release Date: 30 Jul 2009
Running Time:
Distributor: Ram Entertainment
Cast: ChingWan Lau, Daniel Wu, Louis Koo
Director: Alan Mak, Felix Chong

Review
A major stock exchange in the world, Hong Kong attracts not only money but anyone who tries to manipulate the market. At the Hong Kong Police Force Commercial Crime Bureau, an operation is underway to infiltrate a trading company where a man nicknamed Boss is the chief suspect. The team, led by Inspector Leung (Lau Ching Wan) together with Yeung (Louis Koo) and Lam (Daniel Wu) installs bugs to monitor the communications. When crucial information on a surging share is intercepted, a moment of greed now puts them in a crossfire between the Bureau and the boss.

Lee Jae-jin composed a warm and at the same time sad soundtrack for the drama picture “Failan”. A score that perfectly catures the movie’s atmosphere and mood. Every time the strings come into play, you can clearly hear that this isn’t a symphonic soundtrack, but that a synthesizer did all the work instead. Still, that’s no problem at all, since the score oftentimes relies on noteable piano pieces, which serve us with some good themes that are easily recognizable after a while and get repeated while undergoing several alternations. Even when the strings are in the musical focus, we are happily willing to “overhear” that they were just created at a keyboard.
The OST to “Failan” has a very flowing and melancholic character, that always manages to bestow a pleased smile on you. As the movie does, this score, too, despite all the grief and drama, also radiates a certain kind of warmth, that is very affecting and creates a fuzzy feeling in the listener.

Cecilia Cheung gives a little introduction with some words in broken Korean, which I first believed to be Cantonese, though. She should work on her pronounciation, I guess.
Right after this a melancholic, yet friendly motif is played by a wind instrument, which often gets outplayed by the strings and is supported by reserved piano sounds. In “Prologue Voyage” we get to hear one of the main motifs, which is slowly introduced to us by a piano, and is accompanied by the modest use of some strings. This motif gets picked up again and is getting many alternations in “First Letter”, “Kang-jae in the Picture”, “Job Agency” and “Kang-jae’s Room”. It is obvious that with its sad, and yet somehow hopeful motif these tracks are supposed to represent Kang-jae’s theme.

“Morning Bicycle 1″, with its more joyful and jumpy tunes stronly reminds us of a dreamy autumn day. “Sea of Failan”, “Morning Bicycle 2″, as well as “Hope” take up the motif again, whereas it gets played a little bit faster at times or slower at others. Furthermore, in “Morning Bicycle 2″ we also get to listen to the scene in which the Korean lady, who gave Failan shelter and a home, tries to teach Cecilia Cheung some words of Korean. That’s not only quite funny, but also brings back the pictures of the movie to your mind. Failan’s theme is refreshingly blithe, without losing the melancholic aftertaste that naturally comes with it.
It’s pretty apparent that most of the tracks on the CD aren’t exceeding the 2 or even 1 minute mark. Therefore, you could call many of them pieces that only fill the gaps of the CD. But actually the tracks always fade into the next one very well, so that we don’t get the feeling that there are several short tracks, but instead almost think of the CD as one single big track.

With its running time of more than 4 minutes we are lead to believe that “Last Letter” may deliver more than any of the other pieces, but actually we just get reheated old stuff. Even though luckily in a more diverse way than it was the case with some other titles, where you almost had the feeling that they were just pressed 1:1 on the CD for a second time.
The CD’s highlight is without a doubt the only sung piece of the soundtrack: “Love”. “Kang-jae’s Choice” already gave us a little foretaste of this track with its quite acoustic guitar tunes. “Love” starts with a gentle guitar solo and is occassionaly accompanied by a very reserved piano. Cecilia Cheung’s voice stands in the song’s focus, of course, whereas she sings in Mandarin-Chinese. As we know, Cheung’s voice has a distinctive scratchy sound, but when she sings this really isn’t apparent anymore. She may not be what you would call a born singer, but at least she can sing. Not for nothing she is also a successful Canto-Popstar. Well ok, latter might not be a good argument…
Still, it remains a fact that “Love” is a very nice, tranquil and sad song full of yearning, which also fits very well into the rest of the soundtrack

Review
A husband and wife who recently lost their baby adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she claims to be.
The resurgent interest in these films is due to their rich value as cultural and historical artifacts. Documentarians, filmmakers, historians, curators, collectors and scholars have joined forces with archivists because they deem orphans not only historical documents, but also evidence of alternative, suppressed, minority or forgotten histories.

Since 1999, hundreds of these devotees have gathered for the biennial Orphan Film Symposium. In 2001, members of these professions began referring to an “orphan film movement.” As archivist-scholar Caroline Frick has written, some of the most active participants identify themselves as “orphanistas,” passionate advocates for saving, studying and screening neglected cinema. In 2004, visual anthropologist Emily Cohen wrote that the movement's creative and intellectual ferment constituted an “Orphanista Manifesto.” [5] More pragmatically, in the United States the group's rising influence affected discourse and policies about copyright reform, joining the broader media reform movement. Examples of this include the 2003 Supreme Court case Eldred v. Ashcroft and the 2006 Copyright Office Report on Orphan Works. In September 2008, the U.S. Senate passed a bill (S.2913) "to provide a limitation on judicial remedies in copyright infringement cases involving orphan works," but the House of Representatives adjourned before addressing the measure. Similar legislation is scheduled to be reintroduced in 2009.

Although U.S. copyright stakeholders confine their discussion to the narrower definition of an orphan (a work with no identifiable rights holder), the broader conception -- an orphan film as a neglected object -- continues to be used internationally. Film archivists working quite separately in different nations have used the orphan metaphor for a decade. At the Cinemateca de Cuba, for example, the term "huérafanos" has been used to conceptualize the lost and abandoned works of Cuban film history, its "huerfanidad." The Nederlands Filmmuseum preserves and programs its "Bits & Pieces" series of unidentified film fragments, its "foundlings." The China Film Archive in Beijing uses a translatable orphan film metaphor as well. [6]

Another indication of the international interest in orphan films was filmmaker Martin Scorsese's announcement of a World Cinema Foundation (WCF) at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Press reports stated that the WCF would preserve "orphan" films. By 2008, however, the WCF's mission statement referred only to "neglected" films rather than orphans, as the foundation helps fund preservation of lesser known theatrical motion pictures, which remain under the legal ownership of some party. World Cinema Foundation

In April 2008, members of the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) unanimously endorsed a "Declaration on Fair Use and Access". The ninth of its ten points simply states: "FIAF supports efforts to clarify the legal status of 'orphan' motion pictures and related promotional and historical materials for the purpose of preservation and public access." More recently, on June 4, 2008, the European Union announced the signing of a new "Memorandum of Understanding" on orphan works. The EU's Digital Libraries Initiative produced the statement. Signatories from included the key institutions in moving image archiving and representatives of rights-holders: Association Des Cinematheques Europeennes (ACE), the British Library, European Film Companies Alliance (EFCA), Federation Europeenne Des Realisateurs De L'audiovisuel (FERA), Federation Internationale Des Associations De Producteurs De Films (FIAPF), and the International Federation Of Film Distributors (FIAD). Review
This is a real diary from a real woman. The woman cast in this film is too young too play the real woman. The diary was written by a woman in the basement of her bombed out building during the invasion of Berlin by The Red Army in the last months of WWII. It details the way German women survived the rapes the Red Army officers felt they deserved in victory. Anonymous uses one soldier to her advantage and essentially considers him her lover not her rapist. Her real fiancé returns from the front only to spurn her for being raped. The inginuity of the survival techniques used by the Berliners of this time round out Anon’s tale. The diary should be read by every priveleged person, man or woman. Americans especially. War is no place for socialites. A woman tries to survive the invasion of Berlin by the Soviet troops during the last days of World War II.

The horrors and moral compromises of war set the stage for this harrowing drama from director Max Färberböck, based on a true story. An anonymous female reporter (Nina Hoss) is living in Berlin in the spring of 1945; most of the city has been reduced to rubble by bombing, the German army has been decimated, and most of those left behind are expecting the arrival of Russian troops and fearful of what awaits them. The reporter is one of a number of women who are hiding wherever they can in the city, expecting that they will be raped and brutalized by the Russians. It doesn't take long for their worst fears to be realized as the emotionally ravaged Russian soldiers take out their anger and frustration on their new captives. But the reporter, who can speak Russian, is determined not to allow herself to be violated by the soldiers, and she decides to curry favor with a Soviet officer who will then protect her from his underlings. The reporter's plan works as she becomes the lover of Major Andrej (Yevgeni Sidikhin), an officer with decidedly mixed feelings about his work. But as the reporter trades consensual sex for the safety Andrej can give her, both are aware who is the victor and who is a captive, and elsewhere in Berlin both German survivors and the soldiers occupying Berlin show the scars of war as they bring out the worst in one another. Anonyma -- Eine Frau in Berlin (aka A Woman in Berlin) received its world premiere at the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

On the eve of the 20th anniversary of his still wildly popular book, Arlen is still sought after as the man who has all the answers. Arlen's life collides with Elizabeth (Graham), a single mom raising her seven year-old son, and Kris (Taylor Pucci), a young man fresh out of rehab who is searching for meaning. Both Elizabeth and Kris are hopeful that Arlen has the answers, but the truth is, he hasn't got a clue. The film also stars Kat Dennings ("Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist") and Olivia Thirlby ("Juno").

The reclusive author whose groundbreaking book redefined spirituality for an entire generation realizes how little he actually knows upon being approached by a single mother and a recovering addict in this drama from first time writer/director John Hindman. It’s been 20 years since Arlen Faber (Jeff Daniels) penned “Me and God,” and the inspirational, soul-searching book is still as popular as ever. Anyone who reads it thinks that Arlen has all the answers to life’s problems, but these days the author barely ventures outside of the house. Then, one day, Arlen crosses paths with Elizabeth (Lauren Graham), a single mother struggling to raise her seven-year-old son, and Kris (Lou Taylor Pucci), a young man who has just gotten out of rehab. Both are searching for the answers that will help them to become better people while overcoming their fears of failure. Does Arlen possess the wisdom to help Elizabeth and Kris work through their current problems, or is he really as clueless as he’s been feeling for the last two decades? ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Review
Examines Australian "Ozploitation" genre cinema from the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the auteurs and actors who brought the films to life. Subtitled ‘the wild, untold story of Ozsploitation’, this cheerfully vulgar documentary investigates the seedy underbelly of the ’70s Australian film boom. Uninterested in telling stories, as Barry Humphries describes it, about ‘nice girls in white dresses vanishing into rocks’, an incestuous, mostly male gang of rebel filmmakers decided to present their ideas of what Australian culture should be: loud, crass, bloody and occasionally brilliant.

Director Mark Hartley’s enthusiasm for his subject infuses every frame, as his cannily selected talking heads – from Aussie legend Humphries to fawning fanboys like Quentin Tarantino – are repeatedly interrupted by another luridly animated, smash-edited round of gratuitous gore ’n’ boobs. But he gives the genuine genre classics space to shine: films like ‘Long Weekend’, ‘Roadgames’ and of course ‘Mad Max’ are treated with reverence.

The end product, while shallow and sometimes discomfitingly furtive, offers an enlightening, pleasurable peek into one of cinema’s more enticing dark corners.

Lorna's Silence Movie Hollywood 2009

Genres: Art/Foreign and Drama
Release Date: 31 July 2009
Starring: Arta Dobroshi, Fabrizio Rongione, Morgan Marinne, Olivier Gourmet, Anton Yakovlev
Directed by: Luc Dardenne, Jean-Pierre Dardenne
Produced by: Olivier Bronckart, Jean-Pierre Dardenne, Luc Dardenne

Review
This latest from Belgium’s Dardenne brothers – Europe’s quiet soldiers of urgent, humane cinema – needs defending after receiving an inexplicably poor critical reaction from some quarters. Perhaps it’s the extreme nature of the story that alienates or the unknowable central character that obscures the deeply pertinent moral inquiry at its heart. But the truth is that the deeper you dig, the more you’ll find that ‘The Silence of Lorna’ is just as rewarding as the directors’ last film, ‘The Child’, which also told of a youngster driven to warped behaviour by poverty or the threat of it.

The film is a portrait of Lorna (Arta Dobroshi), a young Albanian immigrant in the Belgian town of Liège, whose dream to live independently in Western Europe and run a sandwich shop with her boyfriend has distorted her sense of morality. In rabid pursuit of her goals, Lorna has entered into an arranged marriage with a Belgian junky, Claudy (Jérémie Renier), and even agreed with her mob handlers that they will kill him, by faking a drugs overdose, when he’s no longer useful. For much of the film, Lorna is willing to go along with this sinister arrangement, until a sequence of events light, or reignite, the flame of empathy and humanity inside her.

The Dardennes’ portrait of Lorna is brilliantly nuanced; it’s there to be explored and queried and debated as the film offers subtle, changing lines of communication between us and Lorna. For most of the film we witness the cold language of currency exchange between Lorna and everyone she meets – a language we recognise as a poor substitute for decent human behaviour but which also reveals how lonely and desperate she is. It’s only later, when she seeks intimacy with a strange nurse and a doctor, that she fully reveals this. It’s then that we come to see Lorna’s hard exterior as no less a performance than the cuts and bruises she tries to fake to seek a divorce on false grounds of physical abuse.

Meanwhile, we witness various challenges to her tough-girl act, whether it’s Claudy’s desperation or, later, the possibility that Lorna’s life may be fundamentally changing in a way she never expected. It’s this last development that allows us finally to stop looking at – or looking down on – Lorna and empathise with her. Once she opens the doors to self-examination, we see her more clearly ourselves.

Dobroshi gives a terrific performance, as does Renier, making his third appearance in a film by the Dardennes, who once again show themselves to be masters of turning grim social realities into deep explorations of human behaviour. By the time ‘The Silence of Lorna’ reaches its quiet, unusual, reflective finale, the film feels almost spiritual in its investigation of a lost soul.

The young woman is-Lorna (Arta Dobroshi), an Albanian immigrant who has travelled to Belgium with a group of Russians led by Fabio (Fabrizio Rongione), in a plot to arrange her permanent residency. The Russians pay Claudy (Jeremie Renier), a Belgian citizen, to marry her, but he is a man marked out to die: the Russians plan to kill Claudy soon after the marriage. They consider him an easy, dispensable target because he is a drug addict and dropout, a pathetic shadow of a human being who will not be missed and whose "overdose" will be credible to any detective. Killing him is faster than filing for divorce and will give Lorna her Belgian passport. But this all comes at a price: Lorna must subsequently act as the Belgian citizen marrying an incoming Russian in search of the same inclusion into Europe that she has now gained. Lorna is aware of the plan to kill Claudy, but does not express her feelings about it--she keeps her silence--and instead concentrates on what she had dreamt about when leaving Albania: being with her boyfriend Sokal (Alban Ukaj)--an Albanian truck driver connected to the Russians and likely the one who introduced her to them in the first place--and setting up a little cafe in central Liege. For a short time, this works.

As true of the Dardennes' previous features, Lorna's Silence displays an acute but unselfconscious social realism, an approach setting their films apart from those of other contemporary directors working in the same mode--whether the U.K. kitchen-sink dramas that have evolved more recently into Mike Leigh's romantic portrayals of working-class Northerners or Ken Loach's recent saccharine domestic fictions. In Lorna we also find the familiar group of Dardenne actors in similar or opposite roles: Olivier Gourmet was the police inspector in L'Enfant (2005) as he is here; Rongione had been a thug in that film, though he had also played the great friend and well-meaning waffle-maker in Rosetta (1999); Renier has disturbingly been stripped both of Bruno's arrogance in L'Enfant and Igor's youthful conviction in La Promesse (1996); and Morgan Marinne from Le Fils (2002) is intriguingly cast as Fabio's near-silent sidekick. If one imagines the possible trajectories of the Dardennes' characters at the end of each film, this development for Marinne, as well as Renier, is disconcerting--and very believable.

It is most interesting to see the same Dardenne motivation underlying this latest film--a strong moral predicament and ethical focus--developed in a new way. The possibility of redemption has animated all of their features, posed always in secular terms--religion is irrelevant in a world where humans struggle for employment, within conflict-laden families, against poverty or total marginalization--and tied to the moment when the protagonist no longer sees the other as the focus of resistance, hatred, or, in Lorna's case, murder. Redemption comes when one sees the other as a human being, one who can be touched, who might be able to help or can be helped. "It is when we feel guilty that we become more human," the brothers have explained. "In all our films, it is thanks to feelings of guilt that the character breaks his or her routine and changes ... there is nothing morbid in this; guilt is not narcissistic but enables us to work towards something better.

Review
We're introduced to struggling farmer John Rollins (Norman Reedus), who finds a weird-looking scarecrow stashed away in a hidden room in his barn. Immediately John's young son hates the thing and makes Dad promise to get rid of it. However, the strange new neighbor convinces John to put it up in his field. Right away his crow problems are solved and he spends the day burning bird corpses. Then the broken water pump starts mysteriously working. But people are also dying--first, the banker who threatens to foreclose his farm, then the potential extra-marital affair for his wife. John is also hearing voices and the creepy sounds of giggling children in his cornfield.

What I liked about his movie is that it isn't what you expect it will be, especially as to the identity of "The Messengers" this time around. It also sets up more of a canvassing backstory if they're going to make more movies in this franchise. Yes, I could have done without the rampaging scarecrow at the end but it is a disturbing looking creature.

This prequel goes back to the farm from the first film to finally learn the story of John Rollins – the simple North Dakota farmer, struggling to save his farm and hold his family together. When he places a mysterious scarecrow in his field his luck changes for the better… but it may be at the cost of his sanity.

Please note we are in the process of giving our DVD section a big overhaul to make it all that more usefull for you all. Dont mind any dust as we put it all together!

Review
Daringly original, genre-busting and certain to cause debate, Deadgirl is an odyssey into the soul of our alienated youth.

But by injecting universal teen moral moorings into something fantastical and terrifying, the film takes the conventions of the horror and coming-of-age movies and turns them on their heads.

When high school misfits Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) and JT (Noah Segan) decide to cut school and find themselves lost in the crumbling facility of a nearby abandoned hospital, they come face-to-face with a gruesome discovery: a woman whose body has been stripped naked, chained to a table and covered in plastic. When both react to the situation in extremely different ways, the boys soon find themselves embarking on a twisted yet poignant journey that forces them to decide just how far they're willing to stretch their understanding of right and wrong.
Two high school misfits ditch school to explore the remains of an abandoned hospital and make a gruesome discovery. Things hidden at shuttered mental hospitals should probably stay that way. Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) and J.T. (Noah Segan) are hanging around one while cutting class when a dog chases them through the service corridors into a basement storeroom. There, they find a girl strapped to a table, naked. She's got a nice body but isn't communicating. J.T. gets a look in his eyes that Rickie doesn't like; Rickie runs. The next day, J.T. brings him back to show him something amazing: The girl is living dead; it's safe with her strapped down. And it's not like Rickie is ever going to get anywhere mooning over JoAnn (Candice Accola), what with her meathead boyfriend Johnny (Andrew DiPalma) and all.

It probably doesn't take a whole lot of rationalization to convince oneself that it's okay to have one's way with a zombie; it's not like they're capable about caring about anything other than feeding. Even if you can make the case that the act itself isn't so bad, it can easily be the first step along a bad path. That's where Deadgirl gets its tension: There is not potentially a zombie around every corner, but a couple teenage boys - or three, once their friend Wheeler (Eric Podnar) is clued in - in this situation are going to make some questionable decisions even if they do see eye to eye. The dead girl is a moral test and catalyst to potentially pit the friends against each other and the outside world.

There is gore and violence, too, but the filmmakers make us wait for it; they'll set up an uncomfortable situation and then build the tension a little. Finally, they'll let loose and generally leave the characters worse off than they began. Interestingly, the dead girl is often the least of the characters' worries: Bound to the table, she's relatively safe, and while there's an element of lulling the audience into a false sense of security there, not breaking out the full-on zombie action also means that nothing is done to diminish the prosaic dangers, like feral dogs. Or bullies. Or what people will do once they've had a taste of consequence-free sex.

The two leads sell the conflict pretty well. Noah Segan gets the fun, flashy part, shucking J.T.'s morals with relish. The bad boy gets all the fun sarcastic lines, but Segan gives some nuance to his amorality: We believe he needs a little validation from his friends, and though we don't see much of the characters' home life, we get the sense that J.T.'s decisions are influence by having a little less than Rickie. Shiloh Fernandez doesn't get to be quite so gaudy in his performance; a guy wrestling with his conscience isn't as demonstrative as a guy not doing so. I think many people can connect with the guy, though; he's trying to do the right thing and can't help but see that those with no regard for other people (or zombies) are walking all over him. The moments where he's at least tempted to give in to temptation are great, because you can see all he's holding back bubbling to the surface.

The supporting characters are more types: Eric Podnar's playing a pothead; Andrew DiPalma's Johnny and Nolan Gerard Funk's Dwyer are nasty jocks. I wish Candice Accola had a little more to do; the filmmakers do a nice job of presenting her as the pristine visual counterpart to the dead girl, and she does her best in selling JoAnn as full enough of contradictions and personality to make her the alternative to the unquestioning vagina locked up in the hospital but she doesn't have much to work with. Neither does Jenny Spain as the title character, but that's the point; she's bestial, and even when the dead girl is being raped, she's responding, but not capable of either truly enjoying it or feeling violated.

I'm impressed with the job writer Trent Haaga and directors Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel do. My one issue is that the characters are aware of zombie-movie rules, and the movie follows them, which shouldn't necessarily go together. Otherwise, they do a nice job of working suspense against uncomfortable thoughts. There's some nail-bitingly tense scenes in there, and things that will linger in the mind afterward.

Australian director Jon Hewitt delivers a tantalizing tale that while complex looks to deliver thrills and chills. "Acolytes," has not received a North American distributor and seems to have made most of the rounds at film festivals. A DVD release or limited theatrical showing are both likely. See the first trailer and cast information here.

A trio of teens, including two boys and a girl, stumble across what they believe to be the resolution of a classmate’s disappearance. An ex-convict and a strange fellow in a S.U.V. are part of the story the kids weave to explain the mystery. Instead of talking to the police, however, the boys naively try to leverage the situation to their own advantage. As the scheme inevitably falls apart, perceptions of who are the antagonists and protagonists shift until almost all of the characters are compromised (Twitch).

Review
"At $9 million, Flame & Citron is the most expensive Danish production to date, but it has justified its relatively large cost with huge audiences at home and strong sales worldwide. Painting on a much bigger canvas than he has in his previous efforts, director Ole Christian Madsen offers a revisionist examination of the role of the resistance in Nazi-occupied Denmark during World War II, and he does so in many shades of gray, metaphorically speaking. Flame and Citron are based on two real-life “heroes” of the resistance: the former a borderline sociopath who revels in killing, the latter a morose, alcoholic screw-up. Both men are far from the conventional image of the resistance hero, carrying out covert assassinations with increasing audacity as the Nazis step up their retaliatory executions until their game is played out. In this compelling drama, partially inspired by Jean-Pierre Melville’s classic Army of Shadows, Madsen keeps his focus, holding the cast at a high level of nervous intensity, while displaying a fine-tuned awareness of uncomfortable truths, deceit, and betrayal in a story that has unwelcome relevance with parallels to the situation in today’s Iraq.

Bent (Thure Lindhardt), codename Flame, and Jørgen (Mads Mikkelsen), codename Citron, are comrades in Holger Danske, an arm of the Danish resistance during the German occupation. Denmark has been occupied since 1940, and Bent reminisces in voiceover about how the Germans established themselves in the country, working with Danish Nazis and collaborators.

Jørgen, we learn, has been nauseous since the invasion and can only counteract the sickness by working around the clock. Bent, meanwhile, had been sent to Germany by his hotelier father in 1940 for training in the catering business and speaks German fluently. He has no love for the German people though and methodically carries out hits ordered by the boss of their cell, Aksel Winther (Peter Mygind), who says he receives his orders direct from London.

Bent is desperate to take out the local Gestapo leader Hoffman (Christian Berkel), but Winther refuses to give the order, instead having them focus on seemingly inconsequential targets. Bent is a devout fighter and a hero to loyal Danes, but his certainty begins to crumble after he meets Ketty (Stine Stengade), whom he falls for but can't work out. Is she loyal to the same cause? Who does she work for?

Further anxieties creep in when Bent converses with the charismatic German Colonel Gilbert (Hanns Zischler), whom he fails to take out. The sweaty, dishevelled Jørgen is also struggling with the work, and desperately trying to retain some semblance of affection with his estranged wife Bodil (Mille Lehfeldt). As their circle of trust shrinks, Bent and Jørgen resolve to take out Hoffman themselves. But will they be able to put a plan into action when there are potentially moles and double-agents among their colleagues?

The mood of the song is sorrowful yet the pure emotion expressed in Sowmya’s voice mesmerises listeners. Anupama, Krish and Rahul Nambiar croon for the fast song ‘Kanavugal Kaatril’. Nothing much can be said about this song which is trendy in terms of instrumental additions and is also good to listen to. Apparently, the theme music also falls in the heavily-orchestrated category. The next two songs are solos. ‘Kannil Dhagam’ is a repeat version of the same number by Sowmya and ‘Parvai Vali Sumandhal’ by Rahul Nambiar has a classical touch.

KarthikRaja’s music reminds us of Ilayaraja’s style of composition. Arun Vaidyanathan, a US based NRI is directing Prasanna and Sneha starrer Achchamundu Achchamundu, with the team of Madhu, who was worked in the team of The Lord of The Rings in Hollywood few years back.

The Seergazhi born professional, who is living in the US for the past 8 years told that he has the passion to direct a Tamil movie with all the available techniques of Hollywood. In his debut movie Achamundu Achamundu, he wants to deal with a global problem, which will be shot in the USA. Produced by Project East West – A, the film has Prasanna in a totally different role.

In the formal launch function of the film, the actor said, "After Sadhu Miranda and Anjathey, it is my next project with a different plot. In fact, I don't like to do the repeated roles in my films. I'm ready to even play a small role but if it is in a different kind."

Sneha has accepted to act in the movie within a hour after read out the script. For the first time in the history of Tamil cinema, the film is going to release in the overseas market on the distribution basis like the Hollywood films

Review
Jyothirmayi, one of the upcoming heroines in Kollywood, was recently married to Nishanth, her high-school buddy. Though we hardly see her in Tamil films nowadays, Jyothirmayi says she has been keeping herself busy with films in other language films. Vedigundu Murugesan, directed by Murthy of Karuppusamy Kuthagaitharar fame, will be her next release in Tamil.

Pasupathy plays Murugesan, a water lorry driver with a great fondness for literature. A happy-go-lucky guy, Murugesan’s literary tastes are quite a contrast to his work. Jyothirmayee is Naachiyaar, a police constable who stresses on doing things perfectly and by the rule book. These two contrasting characters find one thing common between them which later blooms into love. Jyothirmayi signed up for the film after listening to the narration of two vital scenes. Let us hope that with the success of this romantic comedy, we will get to see more of Jyothirmayi in Kollywood.

When R. Chandru named his first film Taj Mahal, there were some protests from Kannada film makers for giving a Hindi name to a Kannada film. But Taj Mahal is the name of India's proudest monument in Agra standing as a symbol of eternal love and the film was allowed to release with the same title. Chandru's upcoming film, also bearing a Hindi title (Prem Kahani) is invoking bigger protests this time. Chandru is in the final stages of finishing the film and is quite depressed at the criticisms regarding the title. Review
Produced by Three Sun Films, Malyan has Karan and Kanchivaram fame Shammu in the lead. Directed by Gopi, a former assistant of S.A Chandrasekhar, the film has the fireworks factories of Sivakasi as the backdrop.Malayan movie is based on novel theme. The story about a brave hearted village young man who fights against the baddies of a factory in which he is working. The Core" had a pretty good image (for a VCD) but the camcorder was locked down on the center of the screen, losing both edges entirely, and the sound was so bad that we literally couldn't make out what anyone was saying - not a problem if you can read the Malayan and Chinese subtitles, but a washout for those of us who
