When R. Chandru named his first film Taj Mahal, there were some protests from Kannada film makers for giving a Hindi name to a Kannada film. But Taj Mahal is the name of India's proudest monument in Agra standing as a symbol of eternal love and the film was allowed to release with the same title. Taj Mahal featuring Pooja Gandhi and Ajay Rao went on to become one of the biggest hits of 2008, catapulting Chandru into the league of topline directors.

Chandru's upcoming film, also bearing a Hindi title (Prem Kahani) is invoking bigger protests this time. Chandru is in the final stages of finishing the film and is quite depressed at the criticisms regarding the title. He has already published the advertisements of the film and changing the title means spending more money on promos. Prem Kahani is produced by K.M. Vishwanath and G. Ravikumar, mine-owners from Bellary district.

Ilayaraja scores the music; choreography is by Madan Harini, Raghu, Imran and Harsha. Ajay and Sheela don the lead roles with Rangayana Raghu, sitting MLA from Mahalakshmi Layout, Ne. La. Narendra Babu, Rajesh, Sudha Belawadi, Lokanath, Mico Nagaraj and Tennis Krishna in the supporting cast.

Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has expressed its displeasure at Hindi title for Kannada movie Prem Kahani. The movie is at the last stage of shooting. So Taj Mahal fame director Chandru and producers of the movie are very upset.

Prem Kahani is produced by Bellary mine lords KM Vishwanath and G Ravikumar. Now it has become necessary to change the title of the movie.

Ilayaraja scores music, camera is by KM Chandrashekhar and KM Prakash will edit the movie. Stunts and adventures are by Ravivarma while dance is by Madan Harini, Raghu, Imaran and Harsha. K Kalyan, Nagendra Prasad and Kaviraj has penned lyrics for the movie.

Ajay, Sheela, Rangayan Raghu, Rajesh, Sudha Belavadi, Lokanath, Mico Nagaraj and Tennis Krishna are in the cast. NL Narendra Babu, MLA of Mahalaxmi Layout constituency, is playing a special role in the movie.
