I HATE LUV STORYS 2010 Story:

Directed by Punit Malhotra, I Hate Luv Storys doesn’t only have an unique spelling  but also some refreshing tracks. The duo of Vishal-Shekhar gives us some very beautiful and refreshing tracks which sets the tone for the movie. With the young starcast of Imraan & Soham the tracks needs to fit to the youngsters. Lets see what Vishal -Shekhar has stored for us in this album.

The album has around 8 tracks which include both remixes & originals. The album opens with Jab Mila Tu sung by Vishal Dadlani. First listen and this song will remind you of Jaane Kyu from the movie Dostana. It’s still a feel nice song. A good one time listen. Next comes up is Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan & Sunidhi Chauhan’s Bin Tere. A very good melodious number with some good lyrics. Very well sung by Shafqat who gives us a good break from all the regular singers.  A soothing number which is worth a listen.

The acoustic version of Bin Tere sung by Shekhar and his guitar is just as refreshing as the original one but I found it more melodious and appealing than the original. Beautifully sung by Shekhar. Can be the next romantic number to hit the ipods. The remix version of the album is jst fine and mixed fr the discs.

The third original in the album is the title track I hate Luv Storys.  Sung by Vishal Dadlani himself, this one is a peppy & a catchy track. Mix of english and hindi lyrics might make this one appealing to some people. Fine for one time listen. Next in line comes an unsual number for the album. A surprise one- Bahara sung by Shreya Ghoshal with some earthy lyrics from Sona Mahaparta. Sona comes in the background with some good folky tunes with Shreya in the foreground makes this one a good listen. There is a chill version of Bahara with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan  but I believe the original one does the work with me. Plus Vishal-Shekhar should have experimented Sona & Rahat Fateh here.

The last track in the album is Sadka Kiya sung by Suraj Jagan & Mahalaxmi Iyer. Now this one will slowly creep over you. Suraj Jagan & Mahalaxmi Iyer delivers very well in the vocals, with some very good lyrics  & the wonderful music. Another romantic number which will surely woo people. One of the best tracks of the album.

Overall the album is quite refreshing one.  Best part of the album is that all songs are good and worth listening. Vishal-Shekhar never ceases to disappoint and they don’t do it this time too.

I Hate Luv Storys’ offers impressive love songs (IANS Music Review)
Film: “I Hate Luv Storys”; Music Directors: Vishal Dadlani-Shekhar Ravjiani; Lyricists: Anvita Dutt Guptan, Vishal Dadlani and Kumaar; Singers: Vishal, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, Sona Mohapatra, Suraj Jagan, Mahalakshmi Iyer, Shekhar Ravjiani and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan; Rating: ***

It is titled “I Hate Luv Storys”, but the soundtrack of Karan Johar’s forthcoming production venture is all about love. Composed by the musical duo of Vishal and Shekhar, the film’s music is mushy and melodious.

The Imran Khan-Sonam Kapoor-starrer, helmed by debutant director Punit Malhotra, offers seven originals and one remix.

“Jab mila tu” has been doing the rounds on TV channels. Sung by Vishal Dadlani, it has a very youthful feel and is apt for the younger generation. The breezy love song is enjoyable, especially with the orchestration that is neither too loud nor minimal.

Next is “Bin tere”, which is the best song in the album. It begins with English lyrics, followed by Hindi and singer Shafqat Amanat Ali’s beautiful rendition turns it into a soulful and melodious number. It has very simple lyrics, but still manages to attract the listeners especially with the entry of Sunidhi Chauhan towards the end of the song.

“Bin tere” has two more versions - a remixed version, which is faster in pace and includes more beats, making it suitable for the dance floor.

The other is a reprised version by Shekhar Ravijiani. It has a raw feel, but it is extremely likeable.

Then there is the title track crooned by Vishal. The fast-paced, English-Hindi song is quite average and fails to generate too much interest.

Next is an all girls song “Bahara” sung by Sona Mohapatra and Shreya Ghoshal. It is a mixture of folk and contemporary music. While Sona does justice with her husky folk voice, Shreya is good in the contemporary part of the song.

This too has another version called Chill, which is sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Composers have used sarangi for this version and with Khan’s impressive voice this version is a clear winner.

Finally, there is “Sadka”, which is again a love ballad by Suraj Jagan and Mahalakshmi Iyer. The part where the singer sings in a high octave is impressive; otherwise it is average.

On the whole, the soundtrack of the film offers a number of tracks that are hummable and enjoyable. Vishal-Shekhar have done a good job.

I Hate Love Storys is among 2010's most awaited - for more reasons than one may count off the fingers of both hands. With Vishal - Shekhar at the helm of affairs for music concerned, and their past records indicating the likes of Om Shanti Om, Dostana, Salaam Namaste among much else, one can be certain to raise expectations up a few notches from the IHLS album.

Vishal Dadlani opens with Jab Mila Tu. The energy of this song is greatly reminiscent of the popular Dostana track Jaane Kyun, although it manages to stand out of its own accord in certain ways still. The background score holds forte throughout and unusual lyrics penned by Anvita Dutt, fall in right places with just the right notes. If well begun is half done - this song takes the album half way to success!

Next is Shafaqat Amanat Ali Khan and Sunidhi Chauhan's Bin Tere. Sure, the title of this song sounds overused already - but don't be judgmental yet! The melody of this track is a winner, and the lyrics hold strong vying for their share of credit. Written by Vishal Dadlani himself, the vocals for this song deserve no less a mention, especially singer Shafaqat.  Background score added to this well stirred concoction and we say this number can take the best spot in the album.

Bin Tere has a reprise version sung by Shekhar Ravjiani and written by Kumaar. The guitar score is as refreshing as the original version. However, this reprise on the whole takes a lead on its fore runner, the original. The romantic list on your IPods will find no reason to miss this one.

There is even a remix Bin Tere track, phew! Not bad, but nothing much against the two before.

Coming along next is title track I Hate Luv Storys. Lively, catchy, sung by Vishal, this one is bound to grow on the youth. Kumaar pens some brilliant Gen-X lyrics in English. This composition from Vishal befits the status of a title song, as one rightfully should!

Bahara is an unusual track amidst the others in this album - in an alter genre way. While Shreya Ghoshal never fails to deliver, Sona Mohapatra echoes in the background with an addictive amalgamation of folk tunes.  Lyrics by Kumaara are perhaps this song's only shortcoming, somewhat. With veterans like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Goshal lending vocals, the song still manages to be average only.

In conclusion comes the soft melody of Sadka. Sung by Suraj Jagan and Mahalaxmi Iyer, this song is a promising end to the album that keeps you turning back. The background score is absorbing, and the lyrics engage one's attention to their message - a revelation of deep feelings, delivered wonderfully by the singers. While the opening track led to well begun, Sadka lets the curtains fall upon all's well that ends well.

Vishal - Shekhar have added to their accolades with the music making of I Hate Love Storys. If you haven't checked it out yet, we suggest you wait no more!

I Hate Luv Stories Lyrics

Ho tora saajan aayo tore des
Badli badra badla saavan
Badla jag ne bes re
Tora saajan aayo tore des

Neendhe neendhe rehti hain aaj kal, bas uske hi khwabon ke libaaz mein
Jaane kab tham gaye yeh kadam, ik uske hi ghar ke paas mein
Raasta, bhula main apna raasta
Bahara bahara huya dil pehli baar ve
Bahara bahara ki chain to huya faraar ve
Bahara bahara huya dil pehli pehli baar ve

Woh jo labz the bandhe huye, labo pe khul gaye
Main usse mila toh rang se haim mujh mein gul gaye kuch iss kadar
Mujh mein main rab hoon kidar, main hoon kidar kya bataun
Sirf usko hai pataa
Bahara bahara huya dil pehli baar ve
Bahara bahara ki chain to huya faraar ve
Bahara bahara huya dil pehli pehli baar ve

Ho tora saajan aayo tore des
Badli badra badla saavan
Badla jag ne bes re
Tora saajan aayo tore des

Neendhe neendhe rehti hain aaj kal, bas uske hi khwabon ke libaaz mein
Jaane kab tham gaye yeh kadam, ik uske hi ghar ke paas mein
Raasta, bhula main apna raasta
Bahara bahara huya dil pehli baar ve
Bahara bahara ki chain to huya faraar ve
Bahara bahara huya dil pehli pehli baar ve
