Synopsis:
"The Back-up Plan" is a comedy that explores dating, love, marriage and family "in reverse." After years of dating, Zoe (Jennifer Lopez) has decided waiting for the right one is taking too long. Determined to become a mother, she commits to a plan, makes an appointment and decides to go it alone. That same day, Zoe meets Stan (Alex O'Loughlin)-- a man with real possibilities. Trying to nurture a budding relationship and hide the early signs of pregnancy becomes a comedy of errors for Zoe and creates confusing signals for Stan. When Zoe nervously reveals the reason for her unpredictable behavior, Stan commits fully and says he's in. Never before has love seen a courtship where a wild night of sex involves three in a bed -- Stan, Zoe and the ever-present massive pregnancy pillow. Or, where "date night" consists of being the "focal point" at a near-stranger's water birth which does for kiddie pools what "Jaws" did for swimming in the ocean. The real pregnancy test comes when both of them realize they really don't know each other outside of hormonal chaos and birth preparations. With the nine month clock ticking, both begin to experience cold feet. Anyone can fall in love, get married and have a baby but doing it backwards in hyper-drive could be proof positive that they were made for each other.

Movie Detail Information:
To prep for "The Back Up Plan," shed all notions of how grown-ups behave in the real world. But, you might retort, the movie's only a romantic comedy, a showcase for Jennifer Lopez and Aussie heartthrob Alex Loughlin, not some kitchen-sink drama with people like us who wrestle with hard-core dilemmas. Fair enough. But, really, how many IQ points must you drop to get off on the unfunny antics of a privileged pair of pretty Peter Pans in their Neverland playpens? This tepid, endless excursion into rom-com lowlands rides largely on Lopez's iconic cheekbones and famous derriere, as well as O'Loughlin's handsome chest, bared at every opportunity. "The Back-up Plan" marries romance-novel fluff with made-for-TV movies designed to satisfy distaff fantasies. Though salted with obligatory vulgarity, this flat-footed comedy sticks to the kind of sanitized, prepubescent sex Doris Day and Rock Hudson played at in the '60s.
Internet hotshot turned pet-shop owner Zoe (Lopez) has dated "hundreds" of men and never found The One. Her soulful little pug, its useless back legs supported in a colorfully decorated wagon, trundles after her every move. (The filmmakers find its handicapped perambulations so adorable that this canine cutie approaches co-star status.) But dog, doting gram Linda Lavin,Eve Arden-like BFF (Michaela Watkins, providing some rare laughs), and thriving business just aren't enough for this greedy singleton. Zoe yearns for a baby bump. So she hoists herself into the stirrups to get artificially inseminated, displaying the profound spiritual joy of a girl copping a pair of coveted Manolo Blahniks. (Someone said "The Back-up Plan" comes from the same planet as "Sex And The City," sans the sex!) Moments after someone's sperm has hit the spot, Zoe runs into The One, a good-looking cheese-maker/farmer who dreams of starting a "sustainable gourmet shop." (No kidding, he's blood brother to John Corbett, Carrie Bradshaw's sensitive furniture-making manly man!) Lopez and O'Loughlin, erstwhile "Moonlight" vampire, meet so cute it makes your teeth hurt, competing for the same cab in a Manhattan downpour. Then director Alan Poul ("Six Feet Under," "Big Love") scrambles to find ways to mine romance and chuckles out of falling in love with a hapless guy just after getting knocked up, and to manufacture sufficient emotional speed bumps to stretch "The Back-up Plan" from sitcom episode to movie-length. It doesn't help that the big moments in the rubber-band affair are punctuated by dispiritingly goopy love songs that leave you feeling swaddled in tofu. (Lopez's "What Is Love?" is no exception.)

Movie Review:

Chick flicks. You know them when you see them, right? The lonely but gorgeous heroines, the hunky but unthreatening heroes, the life lessons dished out by fate and sardonic buddies.
"The Back-Up Plan" qualifies on all counts: Jennifer Lopez plays a beauteous single who's artificially inseminated moments before meeting Alex O'Loughlin's sensitive hunk of a goat farmer. But their story goes way, way beyond standard chick-flickiness. The film actually belongs to a special subcategory called the Egg-Producing Hen Movie. As such it should appeal to anyone who has ever been pregnant, thought about getting pregnant, known someone who's been pregnant, followed a pregnant woman's postings on Facebook and/or thumbed through a copy of "What to Expect While You're Expecting" while sucking on a milk shake.
As a member of all five groups, I laughed hysterically, but in the interest of balanced reporting, I should add that the guy parked next to me at the screening - a boyfriend who was there under duress - emitted a series of low guttural noises suggesting profound psychological anguish.
When it comes to the schmaltzier pronouncements in Kate Angelo's screenplay, you'll feel his pain. Purveyors of mainstream romantic comedy seem incapable of bringing them to a close without all the icky-sticky moments of Oprah epiphany. Otherwise, Alan Poul's feature directorial debut is an often riotous send-up of impending parenthood and its myriad transformations, putting truisms into modern dilemmas.
Zoe (Lopez) is weepy, barfy, hungry, horny. Her boyfriend, Stan (O'Loughlin), didn't know about the bun in the oven when he signed on for a little romance, so he's feeling a bit dazed. Guiding Zoe through the wilds of human gestation is her chick-flick-ordained sardonic buddy, Mona (Michaela Watkins), who has four children and claims to hate them all. Guiding Stan through the manly equivalent is his own acerbic helper, a nameless playground dad (Anthony Anderson) who plies him with juice boxes and sums up parenthood as the awful interrupted by the magical.
Lopez does a fine job mortifying herself in pursuit of physical humor, shifting her center of gravity in more ways than one. O'Loughlin, in the blander role, acts hurt or shocked or besotted where required, but the supporting players nearly steal the show. A single mother's support group and related water-birthing scene provide many such opportunities. And if Robert Klein does nothing else for the rest of his life, I will always love him for the way he shouts a single noun - four times, with zest - as Zoe's obstetrician. It's a few brief seconds of chick-flick nirvana.

How to Be a SexStar Movie Reviews :
Fully prepared for a documentary, I found SexStar to be my brand of ludicrous. The pick-up artist is hardly a creature of sheer technique, so to present all this as mere performance to be aped is funny indeed. The jargon is utterly pointless except to highlight the little regard Hill has for womankind. The presentation sequences have a bone-headed literalness that mocks the trope. The reenactments are gamely performed, but could never be mistaken for anything but. Toward the end Hill reclines in his lips-shaped chair with a roaring caveman laugh as crayon loveletters flit across the screen. I would have you believe that I was laughing even harder.
This movie was damn hilarious! I watched it with some buddies and we had a great laugh. It's really for anyone who ever wanted to know how to attract girls but never succeeded. We've all been there and finally someone is giving us the answers. The stuff Nathan Hill says about women and how they tick is spot on. And his techniques to pick them up are just hilarious, in particular when he was using fire and ice and shake the bake – might even use them myself… the chicks in this film were really hot which made it easy to watch, especially the little brunette who name I can't remember. I'd recommend if you're in the mood for a good time and a lot of laughs.

The movie follows a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator.

Movie Reviews :
Expendable: capable of being sacrificed in order to accomplish a military objective.
The Expendables is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things arent quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) is a man with nothing to lose. Fearless and void of emotion, he is the leader, the sage and the strategist of this tight-knit band of men who live on the fringe. His only attachment is to his pickup truck, his seaplane and his team of loyal modern-day warriors. His is a true cynic who describes what he does as removing those hard to get at stains. The team behind him is made up of Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), former SAS and a savant with anything that has a blade; Yin Yang (Jet Li), a master at close-quarter combat; Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), who has known Barney for ten years and is a long-barrel weapons specialist; Toll Road (Randy Couture), a skilled demolitions expert and considered the intellect of the group; and Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), a combat veteran and an expert in precision sniping who struggles with his own demons.

When the mysterious Church offers Barney a job no one else would take, Barney and his team embark on what appears to be a routine mission: overthrow General Gaza (David Zayas), the murderous dictator of the small island country of Vilena and end the years of death and destruction inflicted on its people. On a reconnaissance mission to Vilena, Barney and Christmas meet their contact Sandra (Giselle Itie), a local freedom-fighter with a dark secret. They also come to learn who their true enemy is: rogue ex-CIA operative James Monroe (Eric Roberts) and his henchman Paine (Steve Austin). When things go terribly wrong, Barney and Christmas are forced to leave Sandra behind, essentially giving her a death sentence. Haunted by this failure, Barney convinces the team to return to Vilena to rescue the hostage and finish the job he started. And to perhaps save a soul: his own.

Hollywood Movie Reviews :
Tomas, a frail, shy eight-year-old boy, has been living a solitary life in a drab orphanage – sad, friendless and alone. Then a joyous burst of colour comes into his world: Maire O’Donnell, whose smile and spirit light up the darkest room – and Tomas’s heart. Before he knows it, Tomas is on a boat, sailing to wind-swept Corrie Island off the coast of Ireland, where he meets Alec, her reticent husband who cannot hide his disappointment with the boy.
Undiscouraged, Maire introduces Tomas the wonders of his new world. She shares with him the secret of the seals, the mystery of the stone giant and shows him that you can find magic anywhere- if you really look. In this rugged and enchanting world, Tomas thrives. He befriends a pair of island children and rescues an orphan seal pup who join him on his journey of self-discovery. Slowly, Alec too begins to see in Tomas what Maire always has.
But when tragedy strikes, Tomas is faced with his greatest challenge yet, for he’ll lose everything unless he can find – and share – the magic that’s inside him. Risking all, Tomas embarks on a perilous journey where he will need to call on all of Maire’s gifts to triumph and come home.

He can't hide his disappointment that Tomas isn't the kind of child he was hoping for and his reluctance to get to know the boy makes Tomas unsure of whether he really belongs. Soon though, Tomas too falls in love with his home, befriending local children, descending into a secret bat-filled cave, and saving a stranded baby seal. When tragedy strikes however, Tomas is faced with his greatest challenge yet. He'll lose everything unless he can find- and share- the unique gifts inside of him. Risking all, Tomas embarks on a perilous journey where he will need to call on his ability to see joy and color even when in the darkest place, in order to triumph and come home. Movie Reviews :

The above summary is a quote from a reviewer who stated it better than I could. "A journey past the known and into the unknown, ... this film ... uses sci-fi elements to enable the main character - a physicist whose specialty is quantum mechanics - to selflessly uplift and have an effect on those around him in a positive manner." Bill Sage does a marvelous job of character development. The supporting cast is excellent as well. In the interest of full disclosure, since I had a bit part in this film: Lest you think this is a self-serving review, my small scene was cut.
The audience all left the theater feeling better than we did when we came in. I urge you to see this unique film.
I saw "The Scientist" at the sneak preview on March 2nd. The only thing I found enjoyable about the film was the fact that so many people I am connected with had something to do with it. The ONLY actor whose performance actually made an impression on me was that of Adam LeFevre. I thought the plot moved along entirely too slow, not to mention there were several points at which the sound was PAINFULLY loud. I left the theater feeling offended, not only by the abuse to my eardrums, but also by the fact that the main character decided to influence his neighbor about her reproductive choices. It was obvious that she didn't really want to have an abortion in the first place, but it was his arrogance in that regard that I found so offensive. It also didn't seem as though the writers actually did any research as far as what kind of process and treatment by the clinic a woman experiences when seeking an abortion. It's a sign of ongoing dysfunction that the couple "connected" once they decided to keep the baby. It made me unsure if he was being sincere or just faking it to get her to do what he wanted. I left wondering if this was just anti-choice propaganda disguised as a sci-fi film. And I don't think that is what it was supposed to be. It needed to focus more on the scientist himself, his work, and his family rather than the neighbors'. I am happy for all my friends who got to be in it, but otherwise utterly disappointed.

English movie online Hollywood movie online Comedy Movie Romantic movie online movie trailer movie review movie story

Gunless Hollywood Movie Reviews :
Gunless — a wily Canadian western comedy starring Paul Gross that  opens next Friday — might never have made it to the screen had its  co-producer, Niv Fichman, the Toronto filmmaker renowned for such  high-toned movies as Passchendaele, The Red Violin, Ravel’s Brain and  Silk, not stumbled into a mountain-ringed valley during a wine tour of  B.C.’s Okanagan region with fellow connoisseurs du vin, former  Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson, and writer John Ralston Saul.

“It was beautiful country . . . it looked like a desert surrounded by  snow-capped mountains, with lots of dust, and even sagebrush blowing  around,” Fichman told the Star.
“I couldn’t believe we were in Canada, in this wonderful restaurant  in B.C. wine country. There was something authentically western about it  — big blue skies, lots of sunshine. I promised myself that if I ever  made a western, this would be the perfect location.”
As it turned out, Fichman soon found himself working on a script with  Vancouver writer-director Bill Phillips and co-producer Steve Hedges,  about an American outlaw, the Montana Kid (Gross), who inadvertently  winds up in a tiny hamlet, Barclay’s Brush (pop. 17), on the northern  side of the U.S.-Canada border in the late 1800s, a place where handguns  are illegal and gunslingers have no cachet.
“Everyone was thinking we should shoot in Alberta, till I remembered  this little valley in B.C.,” Fichman said. “When the others saw it,  there was no doubt about where Barclay’s Brush would be built.”
The best westerns — Shane, Deadwood, Unforgiven — are notable for  their town sets, and the creators of Gunless were determined to make  Barclay’s Brush as memorable as the movie’s main characters, even  working within the constraints of a Canadian budget.

As envisioned by Phillips and production designer Matthew Budgeon,  Barclay’s Brush was constructed by a local crew from aged, cast-off wood  from nearby sawmills, and furnished with objects from Okanagan antique  stores, museums and flea markets.
It ended up consuming a million of the movie’s $8.5-million  allotment, Fichman said.
“That’s totally disproportionate. But the location was perfect, and  the topography of the town, with facades and roof-lines that reflected  the angles of the mountains in the distance, made it worthwhile.
“It meant we had to shoot the movie in five weeks instead of six, but  there was a built-in efficiency in creating the set from scratch. We  saved and money by not having to move crews from one site to another,  and every detail, right down to the nails, was authentic. The town  became an integral part of the movie experience.”
Creating a movie town from the ground up, even one with just six or  seven buildings, is daunting, said Budgeon on the phone from his home in  Vancouver. Phillips, Fichman and Hedges all give him credit for  something truly unique, a set that measures up to the highest cinematic  western standards.
“It’s a huge responsibility,” Budgeon said. “Westerns are the  cornerstone of modern cinema. We looked at lots of historical and movie  references, but in the end we had to create something that had never  been done before, a Canadian western town that reflected what was going  on in Canada at the time — the immigration routes, the railroad, ties to  the British Empire. We weren’t making a documentary, but we had to be  true to the time and place.”

Timer  Synopsis :What if a clock could count down to the moment you meet your soul mate? In this alternate version of present day Los Angeles, a revolutionary device called the TiMER fulfills this very fantasy. For a reasonable installation fee and a moderate monthly charge, a TiMER is implanted in the wrist and promises to accurately display the number of days, hours, minutes and seconds until the owner’s date with destiny.
When implanted in a person's wrist, a TiMER counts down to the day the wearer finds true love. But Oona O'Leary faces the rare dilemma of a blank TiMER. Her soul mate - whoever and wherever he is - has yet to have a TiMER implanted. Staring down the barrel of thirty and tired of waiting for her would-be life partner to get off the dime, Oona breaks her own rules and falls for Mikey, a charming and inappropriately young supermarket clerk with a countdown of four months

Hollywood Movie Reviews :
I attended the World Premiere of "TiMER" at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. This is one of those "sweet little indies" I look for at festivals. They are few and far between but finding a film like this makes it worth the effort.
"TiMER" is, on the face of it, a romantic comedy. But its premise is so original and offbeat -- the film crosses over into the science fiction genre -- that, like the best indies, it's hard to pigeonhole. The basic idea (not a spoiler since this is revealed even before the opening credits) is that an implanted device on a person's wrist counts down to the moment the wearer meets his/her true love. It's based on the notion that everyone has one soulmate out there, somewhere, and each person's timer will go off at precisely the same moment when the fateful meeting takes place.
First-time writer/director Jac Schaeffer's script is smart and brilliantly executed by some of the best actors in the business, including Emma Caulfield ("Beverly Hills, 90210, Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), Michelle Borth ("Wonderland"), John Patrick Amedori ("The Butterfly Effect, Stick It, Gossip Girl"), and Desmond Harrington ("Wrong Turn, Dexter").
Emma Caulfield's poignant performance leads the way as the orthodontist Oona, who shares a uniquely powerful bond with stepsister Steph. This gives Steph a private window into Oona's true vulnerability. Caulfield is simply angelic, with a light that shines from within. Steph is a slightly domesticated punk girl, with an acerbic wit to match. Enter John Patrick Amedori as Mikey. To Oona, he appears as a shallow, uneducated supermarket checker with a hopeless future. Mikey is like an unruly dog who's outgrown his puppy years while retaining the innocence of youth which is undeniably appealing to Oona. Amedori wins the comedy award hands down, with the film's funniest lines and the ability to do more with inappropriate facial expressions than any dialogue could. Those expressions elicited the biggest laughs from the festival audiences. Desmond Harrington plays Dan the Man, buttoned-down and well-meaning, with a slightly brash exterior that can be endearing when he makes the effort. The talented supporting cast couldn't be better. Watch for Hayden McFarland as younger brother Jesse, who won the affection of the audience with some of the most heartfelt scenes in the movie.

Mercy Synopsis:

Johnny Ryan (Scott Cann) is a successful young romance novelist who doesn’t actually believe in love. When he meets the beautiful and mysterious Mercy (Wendy Glenn) at the launch party of his latest book, Johnny’s world is suddenly turned upside down. Shockingly, she is the only major critic who dislikes his book. A cynic by nature, Johnny becomes determined to find the depth that Mercy says he is lacking and, in the process, falls in love. With an all star supporting cast including James Caan and Dylan McDermott MERCY explores the struggle of maintaining a relationship, and the possibility of losing it all.
I saw "Mercy" as the closing night film at the Gen Art Film Festival. This was one of those movies where I didn't have any real feeling about it going into the screening. Basically. it was one of those films that if I saw it that would be cool, but if I didn't that's OK too. With that being said, I did venture into the screening and below is what I thought of it.

Hollywood Movie Reviews :
In "Mercy," Scott Caan plays Johnny, a successful fictional writer, who writes about love but has never been in love. One night at his latest book party, Johnny is up to his usual flirtatious nature when he eyes Mercy (Wendy Glenn) from across the room. He walks over to her but Mercy isn't falling for his playboy routine and all of Johnny's pick up lines. Johnny is taking back because Mercy isn't falling for his charming nature and feels that there is something else to this girl that he has never seen or felt before. Johnny now has to question if his idea of love is a "fictitious" feeling or if he is truly is falling in love. An interesting and sometimes dark film ensues...

After having mixed feelings on actually seeing the film, I am glad that I did in fact see it. While the film itself didn't blow me away, it definitely had a well written story and solid performances all around. I think the script itself, which was written by Scott Caan is probably what made it work for the most part. Like any script there are some flaws and definitely a lot of clichéd moments here. I think we all heard this plot outline before but the way the story was written basically is what made it seem out of the ordinary. What I mean by that is Mr. Caan decided to overlap a lot of the acts and kind of blur them together. A lot of films do this but very few that I seen do it successfully. This one did a good job of it which made an overused idea seem fresh.

Hollywood Movie Reviews :
SyFy Channel continues to plumb new depths in sci-fi programming with this entry from "auteur" Eric Forsberg. Mega Piranha stands out as the consummate example of low quality, mindless fodder cranked out for the indiscriminating pre-teen viewer. Sadly, a generation of impressionable kids are being trained to accept this level of crap as acceptable entertainment.
The screenplay is a decadent mess. With its tale of lab-created monster fishes, the story traces its lineage back to the original Frankenstein story, the seminal work of science fiction. For more than a century, the sci-fi genre has served up some of the most daring and provocative explorations of morality as it pertains to science and technology. Unfortunately, any attempt at such intelligent or provocative story-telling has been jettisoned in this hack effort.
The characters are muddled and clichéd, and unlike the original  Frankenstein (and Alien, and other classic sci-fi works) this film has  no moral compass whatsoever. Token female Tiffany (someone's idea of a  milf, I suppose) plays a scientist who helps create a monster form of  piranha, although she later describes herself as a "greenpeacer" (when  she advocates for a super nuclear strike on her evil creation.) The  writer apparently has no clue about eco-politics and simply pulled his  characterizations out of thin air (to be polite) without a minute's  research (or even a dollop of common sense.) This is perhaps the laziest  writing ever perpetrated on sci-fi fans, and one of the stupidest  scripts.

The US military figures are smart and idealistic do-gooders, while their foreign counterparts are of course blundering idiots. While the South Americans' stupidity is portrayed as evil, the team of North American scientists responsible for the mess are transferred into heroes without the slightest hint of a character turn or transition. They simply realized after the fact that creating monstrous piranhas with accelerated mutating and reproductive capabilities might not have been the best way to "save the world." Wow. Well, clearly they weren't rocket scientists.
With their poorly matched lighting, the efx are the typical unconvincing low grade efx churned out for Syfy's bargain basement productions, where quantity bests quality every time. Almost every movie on the channel features efx that looks like they were rushed out by animation interns working for lunch money. You'd think someone in charge might eventually get the idea to re-use and further develop their existing wireframe animations rather than starting from scratch with every production. By pooling their already developed resources, the companies whipping up the endless slew of ogres and monster fishes might eventually come up with a convincing effect.

A stroke of good luck turns lethal for Sam Phelan and his wife Leslie when they are faced with a life-changing decision that brings strange and sinister Pyke Kubic to their doorstep. As Pyke leads Sam and Leslie on a tumultuous adventure through the streets of Chicago, each are pulled deeper and deeper into a desperate spiral of deception and violence... All in the name of money.  Written by The Film CA$H In Chicago, Sam Phelan and his wife Leslie are facing financial problems to pay their mortgage after a period of unemployment. While driving his old Buick below an overpass, Sam sees a wallet falling down on the hood and he finds that there are more than six hundred thousand dollars inside. Sam and Leslie quit their job; pay their mortgage; buy a Land Rover; and refurnish their house. Meanwhile a British criminal (Pyke Kubic) arrives from London to visit his brother Reeve Kubic in jail. He tells his brother that he had thrown the stolen money away to destroy the evidences of the heist but he had seen a Caucasian in an old car getting the wallet. Pyke chases and finds Sam and partially retrieves the money, but more than seventy-four thousand dollars have been spent by the greedy couple and Pyke wants them to refund the amount in five day
"Ca$h" is an entertaining movie where everybody is corrupt in the end, even those that have been robbed and declare a larger amount to benefit with the insurance. Sean Bean performs a peculiar but very dangerous criminal with a great knowledge of economics. Chris Hemsworth is the typical American low middle class with a great alienation and lack of general culture and the unknown Victoria Profeta is hot and very funny with her big mouth. The screenplay is enjoyable and the resolution of the situation is satisfactory. My vote is seven.
