Neil Perota (Carmline Famiglietti) is seriously overweight. At twenty-seven years old, he weighs over 300 pounds, lives at home with his parents in Brooklyn, and is obsessed and controlled by food. When he suffers a heart attack two days before his sister's wedding, he is ordered to follow a strict diet, yet cannot kick his food habit.

Two months later, when Neil's sister (Sharon Angela) finally has her rescheduled wedding, it is not the $50,000 fairly tale she originally planned, but a $10,000, rain-soaked fiasco in her back yard. Disappointment leads Theresa's drunken husband (Lou Martini), who has caught Neil cheating on his diet, to expose Neil in front of all their guests. The humiliation gives Neil the wake-up call he really needs, and he decides that he has to leave home if he wants to make a real change.
Neil then moves out of the city and three hundred miles north to a dilapidated trailer in the country to try and shed the excess pounds. Synopsis:
A transgendered cabaret artist switches gender again to help out a friend in this comedy of errors from Puerto Rico. All About Steve Hollywood movie Reviews :
This review DOES contain spoilers, so if you haven't seen this movie yet, and finding out about it beforehand will upset your enjoyment, go see it and then come back. Or don't see it. A lot of people are unhappy with this flick and I believe I understand why.



One of the reasons this movie has been getting bad reviews is that it is being advertised as a romantic comedy, and it isn't one. You have Sandra Bullock, who has been in some very good romcoms, and two good-looking guys (including Thomas Haden Church who is always willing to mock his immobile good looks and deadpan delivery); the advertising campaign looks like a romantic comedy. What else can it be? Answer, it's a pure clown comedy, with a lead who starts out unlikeable, but goes on an inadvertent voyage of self-discovery. Its antecedents are not the romcoms you grew up on, but classic, flat out farces like Keaton's THE NAVIGATOR and Harold Lloyd's WHY WORRY? in which we start out disliking the hero heartily. In these movies, we wait for the comic to get kicked in the pants, because we don't like him..... but by the end of the movie, he has grown in wisdom and self-reliance, and we wish him well. Or, in this movie, her.
It's a difficult balancing act and some people think Miss Bullock has fallen off the wire. Since she starts out as an unbearably smart motormouth to whom people are an utter mystery who winds up stalking Bradley Cooper, it's easy to write her off as insane and give up.

The Story
Well, Woody Allen’s newest film might not be generating the same buzz as his sexy Spanish romp, Vicky Christina Barcelona, but Allen is still out pounding the pavement for his latest romantic comedy. In a conversation with Duane Dudek of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Allen confirmed that he has finally christened his latest film Whatever Works. The flick stars Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood in what has been described as a “May-December romance”. In the interview with the Sentinel, Allen tells Dudek that the film will be a comedy, but, “a slightly different one for me. It’s a blackish comedy.” — and if there is one guy who has earned the right to be a little bitter about romance, it’s Allen.



When it comes to David, it should come as no surprise that Allen is thrilled with his choice of leading man; the two seem perfect for each other. Allen tells the Sentinel, “He’s got a great thing of his own. He’s got a great, what would you call it, sarcastic, sour or vitriolic, wonderful, wonderful, no nonsense sense of humor.” But don’t feel bad for co-star Evan Rachel Wood; Allen saved a little of the praise for his latest ingénue, saying he was “stunned at how great” Wood was, despite her only being 20. So feel free to fill in your own joke about Allen and young girls here, because after 16 years of Soon-Yee jokes, I have officially run out of material.

The film follows two friends, Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. Joan and Cherie fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley, played by Michael Shannon, who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself—and so do its two leads: Joan is the band’s pure rock’ n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten. Written and directed by Floria Sigismondi, the film chronicles Joan and Cherie’s tumultuous relationship on and off stage, as the band starts to break out.
"The Runaways" were hugely influential as the first successful all-girl hard rock band; its members included guitarists Joan Jett and Lita Ford, drummer Sandy West, singer-keyboardist Cherie Currie and bassist Jackie Fox. The band was brought together in late 1975 by impresario Kim Fowley, who thought a novelty act of teenaged girls performing in leather and lace would be an easy sell, but the girls ended up proving to be serious and influential musicians with songs like "Cherry Bomb." The band lasted about four years together, falling apart over management and money issues.

The Runaways Hollywood movie reviews :
SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! I saw this movie in January at a Sundance event in Madison Wisconsin with Cherie Currie actually in attendance. There's a lot of two things in The Runaways, drugs and sexual references but really what can you expect from a movie about a 70s rock band. For those of you who have read the script in advance only small details change for instance Joan doesn't actually steal the leather jacket in the beginning nothing bigger then that really. The music is amazing of course even if you're not a Runaways fan it's a pretty catchy and weaves itself easily into the story line. You don't see even a glimpse of Bella in Kristen's portrayal of Joan Jett, having seen Joan Jett live, Kristen really captured her essence. Dakota Fanning was noticeably a better actress then Kristen Stewart, Dakota was Cherie and stole the show hands down. When the real Cherie Currie did a Q and A after the movie was over I got to see just how perfectly Dakota mastered even her personality.



The movie it did drag at parts but the highlights definitely made up for it. The scene where Joan walks out of her first guitar lesson and Cherie at the talent show are two of my favourite movie moments. I don't know the actual filming lingo for the artistic angels and blurriness for the lack of a better word but it was all used very effectively creating an artistic feel not just another high budget Hollywood film. This movie may bring up a lot of questions about Cherie and Joan's possible romantic relationship during their time in the Runaways but when asked at the Q and A Cherie said it was nothing more than friends experimenting. To address the debate over the whole Kristen Stewart-Twilight audience this movie will attract all I can say as a Twilight fan who was a Runaways fan before Twilight was invented, I think some of the content in the movie will disturb the stereotypical Twilight fan. There's a lot of drug and sexual references made that I think a younger audience like that might not understand for instance Cherie masturbating in the shower to images of Farrha Fawcett (behind a shower curtain of course) or I believe it was Joan pissing on a guitar.

Overall it's a good movie not my favourite but still solid, some parts dragged but with all the star power, great music, a pretty crazy story and a lot of heart I think this movie has the potential to top the box office in March.

Plot:
Harry Brown is a widower and war veteran, who lives alone on a house estate, which is under the control of a gang of drug dealers and knife-wielding yobs led by the sadistic Noel.



When close friend Leonard is murdered by the youths, Harry vows revenge and he ignores the warnings of DCI Frampton and her partner Hicock to track down the men responsible and make sure they pay for their heinous crime with their worthless lives. An elderly ex-serviceman and widower looks to avenge his best friend's murder by doling out his own form of justice.

Harry Brown has been one of those titles I've seen crop up from time to time, the kind that makes waves at a few festivals, building a nice buzz before disappearing without ever really establishing a feel for what it's all about. Well, Cinematical was just given the chance to premiere the poster ahead of the film's theatrical release in the US on April 30th thanks to Samuel Goldwyn and I've not only finally learned what it's actually about, but that if you want to instantly sell me a ticket to a movie, just make a poster that prominently features Michael Caine holding a revolver while a city burns itself to the ground behind him.

Michael Caine portrays Harry Brown, an aged honest joe living in a city of chaos, where juveniles are driven into drugs and crime. A new angle of view to the 90s' popular crime genre since



Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs(1992) and Danny Boyle's Trainspotting(1996)... Essentially, this movie suggests what can be done with streets when an old chap, who has a medal-of-honor in naval forces, is left alone in his small apartment. It offers an excellent concept through aged Harry Brown's point of view, which is as good as the past summer's animation hit: Up.
It's obvious that the film draws huge benefit from its thematic values. First, Harry Brown's wife passes away due to geriatric causes. Then, his close friend and neighbour Leonard Atwoll gets killed by rounder juveniles at a night time.



Whilst having a life-time crisis, police come to his door for investigation of Atwoll's murdering. Under a confusion of fear, anger and despair; all of a sudden he finds himself running after the vengeance of his friend Atwoll.
Keeping track of the street gangs, he lays a trap to show up as a businessman trading guns with them. Since it's Michael Caine as we know him, he is an expert at fooling people with detracting their attention; so by courtesy of his timing skills and luck, he dishes those young criminals one by one.
Above all, Daniel Barber as a director turns this such a run-of-the-mill plot into a great suspense/thriller story.



He tries to prove that Harry Brown's first murder was unwillingly just an accident but his last was a psychopathic mincing! Same idea here as the way Brown removing the traces behind him, starts with cleaning and collecting garbage, then turns out to setting fire and sabotaging locations. Besides, characterization is at its best. The criminals were so factual. As an important technical detail the sounds have been captured marvellously (with the echoes of fired bullets being heard behind windows), and this is what makes a crime movie makes sense.

The Method Fest, the only major film festival in the U.S. that focuses on the acting side of the independent film industry, has announced their 12th annual lineup. Actors to showcase their new films include Anthony Hopkins, Laura Linney and Charlotte Gainsbourg in James Ivory’s latest “City of Final Destination,” Carey Mulligan in Shana Feste’s “The Greatest” and Richard Dreyfuss in Daniel Adams’ “The Lightkeepers.”
A total of 30 feature films and 59 shorts will screen at the festival, which runs from March 25 to April 31 in Calabasas. Ivory’s film will open the festival, while a number of film will have their world premieres at the fest including James Mann’s “Desert Son,” Nicholas Gyenes’ “The Penitent Man,” Hilbert Hakim’s “Krews” and the Kazakhstani film “Strayed” from director Akan Satayev.

The short films to screen at the fest include a dense lineup of U.S. and international works, including Joshua Weigel’s “The Butterfly Circus,” Jen McGowan’s “Touch,” and “Some Boys Don’t Leave” from director Maggie Kiley.
“We now have become a worldwide showcase of quality independent film,” stated Don Franken, The Method Fest Executive Director in an official press release. “We also have many world premieres this year. But, even more importantly, we have films with captivating performances, and riveting stories that the audiences would really appreciate.”

In Dominic Sena's new adventure, supernatural thriller Season Of The Witch, five men brave dark forces and travel through hell in order to save mankind. The film stars Nicolas Cage as the fourteenth century knight, Behman, who leads the mission to transport an evil witch to the place where her powers can be destroyed.
When Cage's character returns to his homeland in Central Europe after years of battle as a crusader, he finds the Black Plague is destroying his people. Claire Foy, the British actress best known for her title role in the BBC1 production of Little Dorit (2008), portrays the girl in Season Of The Witch. The cardinal is played by legendary actor Christopher Lee, who is no stranger to horror/thriller type films. In 1957, Lee appeared in a Hammer Film Production of The Curse of Frankenstein (1957). He went on to appear in several more Hammer Film Productions throughout the 1960's and early 1970's.
This is Nicolas Cage's second film with director Dominic Sena. They worked together previously on the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds (2000). Sena chose Hungary, Austria, and Croatia, as shooting locations for this film, which lent an eerie visual authenticity to the story.
Season of the Witch will be released on March 19, 2010. The film is rated PG-13 for thematic elements, violence, and disturbing content.

And his friends were so keen to meet the female stars, they rushed to visit Worthington in New York while he filmed the movie. He says, "I did the film as a favor to the director and then she said, 'I have Keira Knightley and Eva Mendes too.' So I thought, 'Let's go to the lottery!' Suddenly all my mates, who weren't that bothered before, wanted to come out to New York and hang out with Keira and Eva. Strange that."

They sent a big-ass camera into space, and now we get to see some pretty pictures in IMAX: Hubble 3D (opens in the U.S. and Canada on March 19; no U.K. release date has been announced). Apparently the astronauts also fixed the Hubble Space Telescope while they were up there -- they didn’t just goof around with that IMAX camera. Leonardo DiCaprio narrates. Will we hear him shout, “I’m king of the world”? Cuz that works even better from orbit, I bet.
Matt Damon hunts down Saddam Hussein or something in Green Zone (opens in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. on March 12). I predict he’s all conflicted and shit while he’s being badass for America.
Is it ironic that Robert Pattinson has to ask, Remember Me (opens in the U.S. and Canada on March 12, and in the U.K. on April 2)? He may wish many of us -- like the squealing 12-year-olds -- would forget him. If so, he should probably stop making movies that make him look all adorably adolescently angsty.

Kick-Ass Hollywood movie Reviews :
I was very excited to see this movie and I was lucky that I was invited to a screening of the movie. If I have to describe the movie in one word: awesome. Not only because of the story, the action and the soundtrack, but also because the genre of super movie took another direction and instead of focusing on adult superheroes like Batman, Spiderman etcetera, you've got now the young and cool Kick-Ass (played by Aaron Johnson) even without any special powers! Now I forgot one thing: the acting. That was excellent, and especially Strong and Chloe Moretz delivered a good job. To keep it brief: go and see the movie next year in cinemas!
I was one of the lucky ones who was invited to the test-screening in Amsterdam.
Like most people I spoke after the movie, I was expecting an slightly amusing low quality comedy (that is probably what the title suggests). But I was blown away in the first 30 seconds of the film! Great camera-work, loved the soundtracks, acting was great considering the age and background of most actors! In my opinion it was one of the best performances of Nicolas in years, especially thanks to the chemistry between him and the little girl.



The storyline was awesome! I really felt for the boy, and one moment you're laughing your ass of, the other moment you're blown away with amazing action shots with great violent humor! Which brings me to my statement: If you liked Snatch, you'll LOVE this movie!
The beginning was quite long, as mentioned in the comments before mine. But I couldn't think of one scene the movie could do without! Only the love between the boy and the girl was a bit strange. I don't know how to explain this without giving any spoilers, but in the beginning the girl seemed important. He was doing like everything to get her, but when he got her she was pushed to the background of the story very suddenly. Also the scene where he gets her felt a little cheap and unfinished. But this perhaps because the version I saw wasn't finished.
