Just Math Mathalli Kannada Movie Review : After the Bollywood film Rann, actor-turned-director Sudeep has released his second directorial venture Just Math Mathalli (Just Maath Maathalli), which is really a superb Kannada movie. Although after watching the climax, one may feel the movies has shades of Blockbuster movie Munagaru Male, it's totally story original and Sudeep rocks both as director and actor. The main highlight of the movie is Raghu Dixit's music. Next, Sudeep's fabulous performance, story and narrative technique, beautiful locations, costumes and moreover wonderful picturisation tease the sense of the audiences. But comedy and fights are total absent in the movie. Director Sudeep himself has penned the story, which is really interesting. He has innovated a new narrative technique and it has got curiosities at every step. He has tight grip on the narration. Somewhere these too many twists and turns seem to be dragging and boring the audiences, but Raghu Dixit's music is successful in holding the interest of the viewers. If Sudeep had included comedy element, which is totally absent in the film, the movie would have been even more interesting. "Just Maath Maathnalli" is centred around singer Sidhdharth, who meets Tanu in bizarre circumstances. Tanu is full of life while Sidhdharth is buried in his past. Circumstances lead them to spend two days together on a railway platform and then later move to Tanu's house. Tanu proposes to him, but Sidhdharth is not really interested. He separates from her but later realises that he made a mistake. Realising Tanu's true love for him, he wants to go to Singapore to meet her and convey his feelings for her. He meets a businessman-cum script writer Adi and tell him his story and goes ahead to Singapore, where yet another twist awaits the viewers. Ramya proves to be exceptional in the film and lives Tanu's character. She is expressive and makes a good impact in the first half. Sudeep once again shines with his slow-paced dialogue delivery. Suryakanthi Movie Review : K M Chaithanya's second Kannada film Suryakanthi is an unpretentious commercial film targeted at a larger audience unlike his first film Aa Dinagalu, which was based on a true incident. Unfortunately his second film where the director treads a different path is not a well made commercial film. It is just that some of the elements found in commercial entertainers are part of this film and the director has overemphasized his focus on songs and action sequences.
Coming to the positives of the film, Chaithanya should be complimented for selecting perfect outdoors for the songs and action sequences though an important song Edheya Baagilu Thattadhe suffers from wrong placement. His choice of Regina as the heroine however is spot on. Now for the negatives. The story does not have any fresh elements and the dialogues are just ordinary. The many incidents in the film will provide ample hints that story writer has been influenced by a couple of Telugu films. The film has many commercial elements, but the absence of comedy sequences makes the film drag midway.
