Maanja Velu Film News :
The Chithirai Thirunal this year will have a ‘commercial cracker’ on screens. For, Arun Vijay has said his forthcoming film ‘Maanja Velu’, directed by A Venkatesh, will be released on April 14.
“The movie would be a milestone movie in my career. There is a huge audience for action films. Movies of Jackie Chan, Van Damme and Steven Segal are admired. ‘Maanja Velu’ would be in those lines,” he said.
“The action scenes were choreographed well by Kanal Kannan for nearly 45 days. I took it as a challenge and did those risky stunt sequences without any body double. I learnt parkour, a physical discipline of training to overcome any obstacle within one's path.”
The actor added: “It is an edge of the seat mass entertainer. It has yesteryear actor Karthik making a comeback in a powerful role. Though the film is inspired by Telugu hit ‘Lakshyam’, enough changes have been made to suit to the taste of Tamil audience.”
On the film’s music, he said, “Mani Sharma's songs are as usual peppy and mind-blowing. We have shot a couple of numbers in Bangkok, the rest in Pazhani, Dindigul, Chennai and Pollachi.”

Maanja Velu Movie Review :
The 'Malai Malai' duo is back. Buoyed by the response to their earlier venture, Arun Vijay and director A Venkatesh have joined hands once again, this time for 'Maanja Velu'. The film is a remake of Telugu blockbuster 'Lakshyam'.
Produced by Feather Touch Entertainment, the film has 'Peranmai' fame Dhanshika playing the female lead. The shooting for 'Maanja Velu' is complete and Arun Vijay hopes that it would repeat the box office magic of 'Malai Malai'.
Interestingly, the actor is sporting a bald look for the first time in his career for a crucial segment in the film. "Although I was initially apprehensive about tonsuring my head, the director convinced me it would create a greater impact on the story. Also, I knew this look has worked wonders in the past for many stars, including Superstar Rajinikanth in Sivaji."
Yesteryear actor Karthik is making a comeback to Kollywood with 'Maanja Velu'. The actor, who has been a part of the Tamil film industry for over 29 years, portrays the role of a police officer and the brother of protagonist Arun Vijay.
Talking about his comeback, Karthik says, "It's an emotional re-union with my peers. I don't know why I drifted away from acting for years. I want to thank Mani Ratnam for bringing me back to the industry in his film 'Raavan'. It fetched me ‘Maanja Velu’.
"I didn't want to sign up for any other film till 'Raavan' was released, but my good friend and colleague Prabhu persuaded me to take up the 'Maanja Velu' role. Although I only appear in a guest role, it is a powerful cameo," he adds.
Says the heronie Dhanshika, "I play Anjali, a college student, in the film. It is a bubbly role and I am part of not just the romantic sequences but also the stunt scenes."
"Director Venkatesh has made 'Maanja Velu' with the right commercial elements. I am confident that the movie would become a blockbuster," she says.
The film, which has Mani Sharma scoring the music, is scheduled for release this summer.

Julie Tamil  Movie Review :
Here's a tale of a hooker that hooks you. Go with open eyes and mind and you will come away an enriched person from this elevating film about a fallen woman.
Catch her if you can. She's Julie. A nice wholesome impish girl from Goa who ends up in five-star hotels of Mumbai peddling, in the words of the film's excellent dialogue writer, "a woman's most effective weapon" - her body.
There have been many films on an unsullied woman's journey into the arms of corruption - some outstanding, others mediocre, and then the rest plainly exploitative.
Deepak Shivdasani's film falls in a different, refreshing and often startling niche.
The segmented plot - tautly written and worded - takes the protagonist through three phases in her life, all qualified by a male presence.
In the way the men in her life define her odyssey from purity to damnation, "Julie" is structurally akin to Shyam Benegal's "Bhumika". The cerebral serenity that was affordable to Benegal is, alas, denied to Shivdasani.
His cinema addresses itself to an audience that's neither intellectually equipped nor inclined to be patient with the polemics of a grossly unequal social order where a woman's right to her body and mind is constantly reliant on the male order.
For all its extraneous and intrinsic limitations, "Julie" succeeds in packing in a rousing punch.
The expertly plotted narrative manages to include cutting comments on the commodification of a woman's body and soul, and on the media exposure of private emotions - Achint Kaur excellently portrays the dilemma of a TV anchor.
Director Shivdasani, so far not renowned for any extraordinary skills of sensitivity, keeps his narrative miraculously free of verbal and visual sleaze.
There are long lovemaking sequences replete with wet smooches. These appear more aesthetic and mature than the clumsy love scenes filmed on the call girl (played by Rekha) in Basu Bhattacharya's "Astha".
Far from being offensive in its attitude to sex, "Julie" actually turns around to become a scathing women's picture. The suffering of the protagonist in a masculine, predatory world echoes the greatest films on female resilience - from Nargis in "Mother India" to Shabana Azmi in "Bhavna".
Shivdasani, openly enamoured of our great women's pictures, even squeezes in a tribute to Raj Kapoor's "Bobby" when Neha Dhipua opens her door to love with besan in her hair, a la Dimple Kapadia.
Dhupia lacks the experience and emotional range to furnish her fertile role of feminine power with that extra edge of the screen greats. Nevertheless, she manages well, delivering moving monologues in key places, for instance after her go-getting lover Rohan's (Sanjay Kapoor) betrayal, or in her final plea for a sex worker's right to dignity when on live television Julie says: "Your mothers and sisters are at home. Why can't I be with them?

Guru Sishyan Preview:
Naming his films after yesteryear blockbusters, that too starring Superstar Rajinikanth, seems to be the latest crush of Shakthi Chidambaram. After 'Rajathi Raja', the Larencce Raghavendra starrer, the director is ready with his next, titled 'Guru Sishyan'.
Produced by Shakthi Chidambaram himself, the film brings together Sundar C and Sathyaraj for the first time. Providing them ample support is Santhanam while adding strength to the movie with her looks is Shruthi of 'Indira Vizha' fame.
Says the director, "the film will hit the screens very soon. Sundar and Sathyaraj have ensured that their performance would enthrall the audience. Santhanam's one-liners would sure bring the roofs down. On the whole, ‘Guru Sishyan’ is a complete commercial entertainer."
On joining hands with Sundar after 'Sandai', Shakthi Chidambaram says, "We decided to join forces again since we share a very good rapport. He forgets the fact that he is a popular director while standing in front of the camera."
He adds: "'As a director, Sundar came out with hilarious entertainers. He is continuing his success show in film industry by proving his mettle in acting too. He is a director's actor".
Sathayaraj had worked with Shakthi Chidambaram for several films earlier including 'Ennama Kannu', 'Englishkaran' and 'Maha Nadigan'. On Sathyaraj, the director says, "We share a wonderful compatibility. He is one of the very few actors who has a great comedy sense. Working again with him is a delight".
On his part, Sundar says, "Guru Sishyan will be a full-length commercial entertainer, with enough importance to comedy and glamour. Sharing the screen space with Sathyaraj is a great experience. He is a seasoned actor."

Aaravadhu Vanam Tamil Movie Synopsis :
Nothing surpasses love when it comes to films, but here’s a storm of surprises that has happened in reality. The film [^] ‘Aaravadhu Vanam’ is based on a real life incident about entire village community vacating their lands for the sake young couple in love. Even today, the village is occupied merely by this two and no one [^] else.
Director Bhuvanesh making his debut directorial wanted [^] to film ‘Aaravadhu Vanam’ in the same village, but the couple didn’t allow them to do so. Without any options left, the crew journeyed across various crossroads and finally nailed down ‘Singaram Paalayam’ located near Kovai district (20Kms from Pollachi). But again, the villagers were infuriated on the plea of filmmaker to vacate their lands for 5 whole days. As they were explained about the contextual scenario and complete script, the villagers changed their minds and heeded to their petitions.
For the next 5 days, not even a single child did enter the village and the filming was done without any interruption. ‘I cannot forget this moment till my last breath exists for no one would have done this in the history of Tamil cinema…’ says director Bhuvanesh.
Bhuvanesh had earlier worked with ace filmmakers like Bhagyaraj and Parthiban and this film features Kannada actor Bhooshan and Vidya from God’s own country taking on lead roles.

‘Thambikku Indha Ooru ‘is about a young man who returns to India from Singapore in search of his identity and roots, and eventually finds his lover. Prabhu, Vivek, ‘Thalaivasal’ Vijay and Ranjith have performed prominent roles in this film.
Bharath will be a revelation in this film and that is what the director says. A fluent dancer Bharath has touched new heights with his dancing skills. A song where Bharath dances hard at a theatre location in front of a huge cut out of ‘Enga Veettu Pillai’ MGR is sure to send fans into raptures.
Bharath also has excelled in action scenes of this film. Action scenes in the film are very special because Stunt co-ordinator Jimmy Lo, who creates action scenes in Jackie Chan’s movies, had choreographed the stunts for this film along with Indian stunt master Dinesh. And that did not come easily. “The first thing Jimmy said before accepting this project was, ‘I want to test the person who will be performing the stunts in this film. I want to know if he will be able to perform the tasks I have for him. Also, I will not allow body doubles or ropes to be used in my stunts,’ said Jimmy Lo before accepting. Bharath was tested and found fit by Jimmy Lo. Imagine what would be the out come. Fire and more fire in the action scenes.
Bharath has even donned a get up resembling ‘Virumandi’ Kamal Haasan with all accessories in place like his veshti, shirt, mustache and even side burns. The scene appears as part of a song which is a kind of remix of ‘Onna vida olagathil osanthathu…’ from ‘Virumandi’. Also Bharath has tried his singing ability with this film. Bharath has sung the kuthu song ‘Koothaadu Machi’ in the company of Blaaze, Prasad and Suchitra.



Sana Khan is the heroine. After her first film ‘Silambattam’ the Mumbai girl is hoping a lot with Thambikku Indha Ooru. She plays a squash player who meets Bharath on a foreign soil where she goes to play a tournament. She is impressive with her attitude in the film.
Vivek and M S Baskar provide comic relief. Vivek’s role as Balram Naidu, inspired by Kamal’s Dasavatharam, is sure to have you in splits. Even while the shooting of this Vivek’s character the entire unit of the film enjoyed it thoroughly. The heroine Sana Khan in very awed by Vivek and registered her views in her interview to IndiaGlitz.

Dharan is the music director and the songs are already doing well in music stations. The songs of Dharan’s earlier film ‘Parijatham’ are big hits and particularly the one “Unnai Kandene Mudhalmurai…” There are six songs in ‘Thambikku Indha Ooru ‘and they are all sung by really good singers like Hariharan, Shreya Ghoshal, Naresh Iyer and Benny Dayal. So the songs are special.
