Cliff and Cydney are an adventurous young couple celebrating their honeymoon by backpacking to one of the most beautiful, and remote, beaches in Hawaii. Hiking the wild, secluded trails, they believe they’ve found paradise. But when the pair comes across a group of frightened hikers discussing the horrifying murder of another newlywed couple on the islands, they begin to question whether they should turn back. Unsure whether to stay or flee, Cliff and Cydney join up with two other couples, and things begin to go terrifyingly wrong. Far from civilization or rescue, everyone begins to look like a threat and nobody knows whom to trust. Paradise becomes hell on earth as a brutal battle for survival begins. After months of delays, the first trailer for David Twohy's A Perfect Getaway has debuted. The tropical thriller stars Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich as a couple who take a vacation to a remote island in Hawaii only to discover that they're being stalked by some psychopaths. Those two are joined by Timothy Olyphant, Kiele Sanchez, and the new Thor, Chris Hemsworth. This actually looked pretty good - right up until that CGI axe came flying at the screen. The hyper-active montage following that shot also looks a bit intense. Maybe it'll be crazy? I'll be checking this out for sure, but I'll be going in cautiously optimistic. A Perfect Getaway is both written and directed by David Twohy, creator of Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick and director of Timescape, The Arrival, and Below previously. The film was originally slated for release in March this year, but was delayed until the summer when Universal decided they wanted to release it instead of MGM. A Perfect Getaway will be arriving in theaters everywhere on August 14th this year.
