Pudhiya Payanam which talks about a poor boy's association with two girls. Mohammed Rabi of Vairam movies is producing the film.

Seeing the troubled marriage of her sister, the heroine of the film starts hating the very institution of marriage. But then every girl falls in love and attitudes change. With her newfound love for a poor boy she gets determined to make sure he amounts to something in the eyes of the society. Her love and affection inspire the boy to achieve great things.

Just when you think everything is going to be fine, in comes the heroine's friend from abroad and the boy's affection is turned her way.

A great deal of human emotions is expected to be part of the fundamental plot of the film.

Puthiya Payanam is a grand film made by Mohammed Rabi under the banner of Vairam Movies. This film marks the debut of yet another multi-faceted personality to Kollywood: M.T. Muthu, the protagonist, has written the story, screenplay and dialogues; he also directs this film.

This film’s heroine is Midhuna, sister of Rajashree (Karuthamma fame); she has acted in Mamadurai. Another interesting factor about this film is that it also marks the debut of Jennifer as a heroine; Jennifer acted as Vijay’s sister in Ghilli.

The film is about a girl who hates to even to think about males; this is the result of her sister’s life, which was ruined by a bad marriage. But some time down the line, she ends up falling in love with a despondent man, who tastes success in life because of her encouragement and love. But he turns out an ungrateful and unfaithful man when he falls for her friend. What happens next has been told in a beautiful drama that unfolds in the climax.

The supporting cast is quite strong; it includes veteran actors like Manorama, Delhi Ganesh, and Charlie along with Devadarshini, Chetan, Aarthi, and ‘Alwa’ Vasu.

Music is by Prasad Ganesh and lyrics are by an elite panel of writers comprising M.G. Kanniappan, S.R. Pavalan, Veera Aadithyan, and Bharathi Kalyan. K.V. Mani is the cinematographer and S. Saleem is the editor.

The film has got all the elements necessary for a successful commercial Tamil cinema.
