ADMISSIONS OPEN Story:
Admissions Open movie is based on a evolutionary movement started by the victims of our stereotype education system.
A disheartened IT professor called Tariq Siddhiqi, who is basically disappointed with the orthodox education system and Devang Tripathi an alcoholic professor who is thrown out from Mumbai University for his abstract methodology for teaching and Arjun Sheghal, an under achieving student who disenchants the traditional education system as he doesn't believe in grading system and Priyanka who wants to break through the typical parental pressure of our society to accomplish her passion as a super model.
Finally as they all posses same perception towards our stereotype education system, they decide to go against to it and they form an abstract pattern of education system to encourage the failure students of our society. Even you are invited to join the revolutionary movement to change the education system of our country.

ADMISSIONS OPEN REVIEW:
First 3 Idiots. Then Paathshaala. Now Admissions Open, which, like the above-mentioned films, takes a look at the present-day education system. The thought behind Admissions Open is very topical - let the youth pursue their vocation/ambitions/dreams - but director K.D. Satyam makes a complete mishmash of a terrific idea and you can't help but feel sorry for those who might stroll into the cineplex to look for answers.
Let me put it bluntly: Admissions Open makes a mockery of the education system. Those expecting to watch a serious, issue-based film will be reeling under a shock. Like I am! The director has no clue about what it takes to make a film. This film falls to unimaginable lows in terms of writing, characters and storytelling.
Professor Tariq Siddiqi (Anupam Kher) is disappointed with the orthodox education system and hopes to start a college, which lets students chase their dreams. Arjun (Ankur Khanna) is an under-achieving student who doesn't believe in the grading system. He feels his creativity and individuality are stifled by the current education system.
Since they posses the same perception towards our stereotype education system, they decide to go against to it and form an abstract pattern of education system to encourage the failure students of our society.
10 minutes into the film and you know Admissions Open is heading nowhere. Characters appear and disappear, there's no high or low in the story and sadly, no conclusion that could give you the answers. The students have a bizarre mindset and what makes matters worse is that the institute that they are proud to be part of, Spirit, offers classes in bhaigiri, godmen, script writing, cookery, seduction, politics, music… And they all graduate into seasoned professionals after Spirit is shut by the government authorities. Really, what kind of cinema is this?
Amit Trivedi's music is a letdown. Ditto for the performances. What did Anupam Kher see in this role? Ashish Vidyarthi hams. Ankur Khanna is decent. Pramod Moutho and Sudesh Berry are as usual. The newcomers are complete non-actors and the less said the better about their acting skills and pronunciation/diction.
On the whole, Admissions Open doesn't enlighten or entertain.
Now this film did have a noble idea. But alas! Why had it to be so ignobly done. While the first half does manage to raise a few pertinent questions on higher education and parental pressure, the second half goes completely cuckoo with a bunch of crazy characters aimlessly going around under the ruse of running a college of the youth, by the youth, for the youth. Ekdum weird!
It's the usual I-wannabe-a-rock-star, but dad doesn't understand syndrome which forces Ankur Khanna to seek refuge with Anupam Kher and accept him as his guru. Having read educationist Kher's articles on the Bill Gates' brand of education which enables you to reach heights, despite being high school drop-outs, Ankur convinces Kher to start his defunct college called SPIRIT: South Pune Institute of Research and Information Technology. But before he can open the gates to new learning, Kher is summarily done away with (dunno why) and it's left to Ankur and his band of crazy friends to run the institute which offers classes in the art of cooking, music, seduction, bhaigiri, politics and what-you-will. Of course, there are no teachers, no exams, no order, only chaos, as the students supposedly go around tutoring themselves. Mentor Ashish Vidyarthi is there, but all he gets to do is wear gaudy shirts and guzzle liquor: he's the disgruntled friend, philosopher and guide.
End result? Total and terrible confusion.
