Indulkar gets a chance to redeem himself when he is reinstated on the team for World Cup 2011. The bookie, Shobhan, tries to fix the match again but Indulkar refuses to go along with it. Not one to be refused, Shobhan kidnaps Soha.

In the end of the last decade of the 20th century, a slow but sure dispute between gangsters created roughness in the underworld. Some very high profile people and businessman were extorted, but the media covered this news extensively and the government took a strict action against the underworld.
World Cupp 2011" joins the list of movies based on sports. Debutant director-actor Ravi Kapoor claims he is all set to unveil the nexus between cricketers and bookies with the film that releases on Friday (Dec 18).
Kapoor, who has written and produced the film himself, plays the lead in the film that also stars Zakir Hussain, Suresh Oberoi, Prem Chopra and Smita Jayakar.

Made on a budget of Rs. 11 crore, "World Cupp 2011" also stars former cricket players Saba Karim and Nikhil Chopra as themselves. It is releasing with around 500 prints.
Kapoor claims to have disclosed almost all controversies that happened in the real world of cricket with the movie. The film shows how after the dance bars were closed down in Mumbai, the underworld had to focus on sports as a source of making money.
In the film, Ravi Indulkar is the captain of the Indian cricket team and he and his four team members - Rajpal, Hiten, Irfan and Balwinder - fix a World Cup match against Pakistan with a bookie called Shobhan.
The twist in the story comes when they are exposed by press reporter Balakrishnan. And Indulkar and his teammates are banned by the cricket board for four years.


Things take an interesting turn when the team's coach gives them a chance to play in World Cup 2011.
Shobhan once again tries to fix the match with Indulkar's help, but this time he refuses. In retaliation the bookie kidnaps his girlfriend and the climax entails the struggle for her rescue and Indulkar's strokes to India's victory.
Considering that the only known hits based on the game are "Lagaan" and "Jannat", it is to be seen if "World Cupp 2011" manages to attract audiences with its string of 'revelations', especially since it is the only release coming Friday.
And the braking impact was created when home minister R.R.Patil completely banned the dance bars in Mumbai.
In such conditions when circumstances was not so good. Then underworld centralized attention on sports as a source of making money, and they aimed the most glamorous game "Cricket". Ravi Kapoor is playing the main lead, as Caption Ravi Indulkar of the Indian Cricket team.

Jan Troell’s “Everlasting Moments” is a film whose title gives a clue about the kind of mood it wants to create. Set in Sweden in the early decades of the 20th century, this movie unspools at a leisurely, episodic pace, dwelling on the details of domestic life with a care that is both naturalistic and nostalgic. From the start, a narrator’s voice establishes that this is a daughter’s reminiscence of her parents’ long, often painful marriage, and her wistful, elegiac recollections extend to the film’s visual texture, its brownish hues and grainy, wintry sunlight. The meticulousness with which Mr. Troell attends to matters of illumination and composition (he shares the director of photography credit with Mischa Gavrjusjov) is especially apt given that the most important household object in “Everlasting Moments” is a camera. — A. Sweden's proud submission for Best Foreign Language Pic at this year's Academy Awards, "Maria Larsson's Everlasting Moments" really does seem to last forever, clocking a 131-minute runtime filled with socialist sentiments, early photography techniques and a whole lot of 1900s alcoholism, infidelity and domestic violence. Not to be confused as the biopic of a current Swedish politician, the oft-reviewed period drama is a semi-rewarding foray into the true story of a laundry woman living in those times who won a camera in a lottery and pursued the art of mastering the curious contraption as a hobby, despite her surrounding poverty and matrimonial problems.
The titular lead played by Maria Heiskanen is half the strength of the film, a character which other reviewers have described as being afforded an Imelda Staunton-like portrayal with equal ease in carrying angst and tenderness. However a much more visually-arresting character is her drunkard, wife-beater of a husband Sigfried, played by a faultless Mikael Persbrandt. You know a good actor when you fail to hate his character despite him doing some truly horrendous things. The other prominent part is photo shop enthusiast Sebastian Pedersen (Jesper Christensen), who plays a kind man fuelling Maria's love for the lens and ends up falling for her.



Perhaps due to it being an adaptation from research and interviews conducted between the director's wife and the daughter of the 19th century woman, a story as real as Maria Larsson's will give rise to uneven attention being paid to a whole volume of events, especially without an expert touch. Director Jan Troell's product is a subtle drama without much stark darkness or humour, resulting in an insightful but ultimately mediocre experience in terms of full-epic impact.

A passionate teacher, Kumiko Yamaguchi, a.k.a. Yankumi, is now overseeing the new students of Class 3D of Akado High School, who still have not opened up to her and are giving her a hard time.

Fans outraged by Akanishi's absence in Gokusen:The Movie

(Source: Entame) Recently, the actors that will be starring in Gokusen:The Movie was announced. They included actors like Kamenashi Kazuya, Oguri Shun, Hayami Mokomichi, Koikei Teppei, Ishigaki Yuma, Narimiya Hiroki and Koide Keisuke. However Matsumoto Jun from Season 1 and Akanishi Jin from Season 2 were notably absent from the cast.

In the recent KAT-TUN concert held on 18th May 2009, Akanishi Jin had commented that he was interested in acting in Gokusen:The Movie, but wondered aloud if "apart from him, everybody else was acting." 'If Kamenashi is casted, then so must Jin right?" He added, revealing his dissatisfaction.



However, reasons for Matsu-Jun and Akanishi's no-show in this movie are said to be simple schedule clashes. Akanishi Jin is playing a lead role in BANDAGE, a movie slated for release in 2010. There are rumours going about however that Johnny's is embarking on a "Save Kamenashi" mission. After the dismal performance of his dorama, Kami no Shizuku, critics predicted the end of his career as an idol-actor. Hence, Johnny's has been actively helping to resurrect his career (since he was such a cash cow for them anyway); this can be seen in his guest-starring role in Kimura Takuya's new dorama, Mr.Brain, and POSSIBLY in Matsu-Jun and Akanishi's absence in Gokusen : The Movie -- since all the spotlight would be on Kamenashi as the sole Johnny's representative amongst the leads.

Case 39 Hollywood Movie Review :

Directed by German up-and-comer Christian Alvart, who first attracted attention with his serial-murder saga Antibodies and subsequently helmed this fall’s sci-fi chiller Pandorum, from a script by Pulse’s Ray Wright, Case 39 stars Oscar-winner Renee Zellweger, Deadwood’s Ian McShane and ubiquitous young actress Jodelle Ferland. After numerous delays (and release in numerous other international territories this winter), the film will open in U.
A couple of weeks back we learned that Renee Zellweger would be returning to the horror genre with a new film, Case 39. Today, Variety is reporting that German helmer Christian Alvart will be in charge of Paramount Pictures Case 39.

Christian Alvart vies between shocks that come on a psychological level and more visceral appearances. One of the most effective scenes is where child psychologist Bradley Cooper is interviewing Jodelle Ferland and she suddenly turns his words around and starts interviewing him. The disturbingly knowing intelligence that Ferland suddenly shows proves decidedly unsettling. Indeed this scene, which only consists of an exchange over a table, has far more spooky effectiveness than the more visceral subsequent scene where Bradley Cooper is overrun by a swarm of wasps in his bathroom. Christian Alvart also conducts some well worthwhile scenes with Renee Zellweger flipping between reality and illusion – imagining she is in a suddenly plummeting elevator, before the door calmly opens like nothing has happened; or a scene where her supervisor (Adrian Lester) hands her a phone and then starts to be attacked, before an abrupt pullback to show she is alone in a darkened office with no more than an empty chair spookily turning on its own at a nearby cubicle.



One of the most effective scenes is where Renee Zellweger locks herself in her room, screwing the door shut and hiding under the bed as something starts battering at the door, smashing it off its hinges and then casually tossing aside the heavy furniture she has barricaded up against it, before Jodelle Ferland’s sweet, innocently smiling face pops under the bed and asks her what she is doing there. These scenes work well on a psychological level that toys with the mind like classic works such as Cat People (1942) and Night of the Demon/Curse of the Demon (1957).

The film doesn’t need more visceral shocks like Jodelle Ferland’s momentarily morphing into demonic visages or she as a bloodied figure pursuing Renee Zellweger down the street – one suspects these tended to be inserted more as box-office dictates so as to give the film something stronger for modern audience.

Fantastic Mr Fox Hollywood Movie Review:

For the first twenty minutes or so "Fantastic Mr. Fox" struggles slightly. The traditional looking, and slightly staccato animation jars somewhat when compared to other stop-motion animated films like "Coraline" or "The Corpse Bride." At the same time, Anderson's story, at least early on in the film, bares more resemblance to his previous work than it does Roald Dahl's book.
Mr. Fox is middle aged, unhappy with his job and desperate to re-capture his youth. His son dresses as a super hero, struggles to live up to his father's sporting achievements and resents his cousin, who is athletically and socially superior to him, while the supporting cast are a collection of awkward misfits, working as estate agents, lawyers and pediatricians.
It makes sense that Anderson added these sub plots to the story, but it does lead one to ask why the production company bothered to purchase the rights to "Fantastic Mr. Fox" instead of simply making an original feature with new characters.
That said, when the film does eventually find it's flow it is great fun. There are wonderful slapstick flourishes in the animation that were absolutely hilarious, and suit Anderson's style down to the ground. This is enhanced by how perfectly the animated characters marry with the actors' vocal performances. This is particularly true for Michael Gambon's portrayal of the psychotic Bean, and Willem Dafoe's Rat, both of whom ooze menace every second they are on screen.

A recurring theme throughout the movie is the rhyme 'Boggis, Bunce and Bean.' Initially used to describe the three antagonists, towards the end of the film it becomes the soundtrack to their demise. The clever use of songs to advance the plot also provides us with one of the most enjoyable scenes in the entire feature, where a Lennon-esque singer narrates the actions of Fox and his associates, while at the same time the animation temporarily becomes stylized and increasingly surreal.
The film is far from perfect, and in places it can't quite live up to its promise. While Anderson has clearly made this for the same audience as "Rushmore" and "The Darjeeling Limited," he has had to make concessions to the children who will be in the audience with them, and while many of these work, particularly some of the more frenetic animated sequences, one in particular falls flat.
Throughout the film, Anderson has replaced any obscenities that would appear in the character's dialogue with the word 'cuss.' While this is a clever way to avoid a PG-13 rating, it is also an object lesson in why more attention should be paid by censors to context rather than the word used.



Not only did it temporarily eject the viewer from the world the film had created, but it also seemed entirely inappropriate for a film where much of the audience would be young children.
That flaw aside, "Fantastic Mr. Fox" is a hugely enjoyable film that combines the highly stylized worlds of Wes Anderson and Roald Dahl perfectly. While it may frustrate those who expect a straight adaptation of the book, the fast pace and quick wit of the film should satisfy most viewers, even if they aren't fans of Anderson's previous work.

Movie Synopsis:
I remember being seriously underwhelmed by this one at Sundance back in January - then again, this is more of a sleepover movie for edgy teenage girls than stimulation for a pudgy guy in his late 30s. Though I will say I expected a bit more from support staff Ana Gasteyer, Sandra Bernhard (who sorta look like sisters these days) and Alan Cumming, whose names are being used to promote the movie, though they have precious little screen time. For the young trio of actors at the center of this drama, let's say they are characterizations that would fade into the background of pretty much any show on the CW.

Dare Hollywood Movie Review :

Dare follows three very different teenagers through the last semester of high school. There are Alexa (Emmy Rossum), the overachieving good girl who longs to break out of her shell; Ben (Ashley Springer), the melancholy outsider confused about his sexuality; and Johnny (Zach Gilford), the rich kid who has everything, including good looks, but hides behind his bad boy persona. This unlikely trio fall into each other's lives and each other’s arms, making a last ditch effort to shake things up before they actually have to start living as adults. Director Adam Salky and writer David Brind takes us into some uncharted territory with fresh eyes and matter-of-fact authority. Sweet and sexy don’t always go together, but they work beautifully in this instance because the sexuality of the film is cleverly woven into the fabric of the story. You can ask why the kids are in such a hurry to experience adult feelings, especially when their parents, comically enough, are afraid to get in the way. All is answered in the nuanced performances of this exceptional cast. They capture perfectly a generation with nothing to rebel against except their self imposed inhibitions. "Dare" follows three teenagers through the last semester of high school: Alexa (Emmy Rossum), the overachieving good girl; Ben (Ashley Springer), the melancholy outsider; and Johnny (Zach Gilford), the rich kid who has everything. The unlikely trio falls into each other's lives, making a last-ditch effort to shake things up before they actually have to start living as adults.



"Audiences will identify with this 21st-century update of the John Hughes oeuvre, as it perfectly captures this generation with nothing to rebel against except their self-imposed inhibitions," said Garrett M. Lee, Image's Senior Vice President, Theatrical. "This film continues our plans to build a portfolio of unique and entertaining films from great filmmakers," added Lee.

Image Entertainment's J. Beck negotiated the rights to the film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in the U.S. Dramatic Competition this year, with Sarah Lash at Cinetic Media. ‘I will be good,’ Princess Victoria said on discovering she would be Queen. But, as things turned out, it was a touch more complicated. This sumptuous film has no interest in the ‘good’ dumpy adult Victoria, instead giving us a bildungsroman: after a stifling childhood, Victoria (Emily Blunt, above) must find maturity and independence – not easy with a controlling mother (Miranda Richardson), two scheming uncles and a snake-like prime minister (Paul Bettany). As in any traditional romance (and this, written by Julian Fellowes, is so trad its corsets creak), there are blips and the odd tear en route to a prince. That the prince, in this case, is Albert (Rupert Friend), her mother’s choice, just delays the inevitable.

Dignified and charismatic, Blunt gives great lip-wobble, and Friend pulls off the role of sidekick, but historical twiddling can’t render Victoria’s love life interesting and the only moving moment is the epilogue: 20 years’ happy marriage is more than most of us get, but 40 years of sorrowful widowhood is tragedy indeed.

It’s been six months since The Duchess was bothering our multiplexes, so it must be about time for another lavishly produced period drama about a young and beautiful royal who has to keep all her emotions wound up tighter than the threads of her heaving corset, right? Thankfully not. While The Young Victoria certainly ticks all the traditional boxes (lush unspoiled English scenery, immaculately picturesque mansions and yes, corsets) it also presents a fresh and quite fun perspective on a Monarch we’ve only generally seen as old and in mourning, and provides a showcase for the talents of Emily Blunt who, on this evidence, deserves to steal Keira Knightley’s ‘English Rose’ crown before the year is out.



Delving into the life of coronation era Queen Victoria (circa 1837) writer Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park) has found a rich vein of history largely untouched by Hollywood, and mines it to tell a story that is both politically engaging and gloriously romantic. To begin with the politics and power take precedence, as we are introduced to the aged King William (a top-form Jim Broadbent) and the tussle going on to secure control of Victoria, the young heir to the throne. Fellowes cleverly uses the Belgian Prince Albert (Rupert Friend)’s education in the who’s who of English aristocracy to bring the contemporary cinema audience quickly up to speed, with Albert’s brother reeling off names while we see the corresponding person arriving at the King’s birthday party.Chief in the political mix is Paul Bettany’s Melbourne, who becomes an uncomfortable mix of advisor, father figure and object of affection in the young Victoria’s life. His influence on her leads to a key political crisis early in her reign, and this is the one area where the film overreaches; the speed with which events fly by suggests cutting due to running time constraints, resulting in the film failing to successfully explore this interesting aspect of Victoria’s story.

Relegated to the bleak and thankless work of casualty notification, Montgomery must visit families who have lost a loved one in the theater. His robotic commanding officer, Tony Stone (Woody Harrelson), explains to the disciplined soldier that his new job is about “character” and one that must be done “before you can understand it.”

Reeling from the loss of his girlfriend he left behind to go serve his country, and haunted by the vivid images of war, Montgomery’s sole companion is a pager that goes off at all hours to alert him to his latest assignment. The 14th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) wrapped Friday Oct 16 with an awards ceremony followed by closing film The Message, in its international premiere. Co-directed by Taiwan's CHEN Kuo-fu and China's GAO Qunshu, the lavish period epic is a suspenseful spy thriller set in the tense political climate of China in 1942.

Attendance to this year's PIFF was strong with 173,516 theater admissions and 7,270 accredited guests and press, including 860 international participants. PIFF's top prize, the New Currents Award, was shared again this year by two films.
Winners were "I'm in Trouble" by South Korean debut director SO Sang-min - a subtle and controlled comic-drama about the meanderings of a jobless young poet, and the Iraqi feature Kick Off by Shawkat Amin KORKI, about an Iraqi-Kurdish community that finds inspiration in football. The latter also picked up the FIPRESCI award.

A Special Mention went to Squalor by Giuseppe Bede SAMPEDRO of the Philippines. New competition section Flash Forward named Finnish-German co-production Last Cowboy Standing by Zaida BERGROTH as its winner, while adding a Special Mention to Miss Kikki by Taiwanese-Swedish director Håkon LIU.
The Sonje Award for best short film went to "Somewhere Unreached" by KIM Jae-won-I and Rare Fish by Basil Vassili MIRONER of Indonesia. The PIFF Mecenat Award for Documentaries was presented to "Earth's Woman" by KWON Woo-Jung and The Other Song by Saba DEWAN.


A NETPAC award was given to Korean director Park Chan-ok for her second feature "Paju", described by the jury as "a fine example of passionate, high-quality filmmaking". The Audience Award was captured by JIANG Wenli of China for her feature Lan.

According to Chinese legend, there was a female warrior named Hua Mulan who joined the army to fight in place of her father. Mulan was reputed to be a very brave woman who disguised herself as a man and fought in combat for 12 years. She has become an iconic heroine in Chinese and western cultures alike.

Tthe young Mulan sees that her father has been conscripted into the army. Having no older brothers, she decides to dress as a man and goes to war in his place. She spends more than 10 years fighting alongside other male soldiers. Later, the emperor offers her a government post, but she turns it down saying that she would prefer to return home and see her family. At the end of the poem, Mulan finally reveals her female identity to her army comrades, who are shocked to see her as a woman. PAINTED SKIN’s Vicki Zhao Wei has been selected to star in an upcoming fillm about Chinese folk heroine Hua Mulan, the same figure who inspired Disney’s 1998 animated feature MULAN. The news broke at a press conference in Beijing on February 10th where the film’s director Jingle Ma announced commencement of production.

A feature film about Mulan has been in development for years with a number of actresses considered for the lead role including Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi and Liu Yifei before Zhao was finally picked.
Prior to this official announcement, unconfirmed news had previously been leaked that Zhao had been engaged in horseback and combat training in preparation for the role.

Zhao remains best known in the U.S. for her supporting role opposite Stephen Chow in the action comedy SHOALIN SOCCER. As an active Mandarin pop singer and actress, Zhao is one of mainland China’s leading female entertainers. In 2008 she has prominent roles in Gordon Chan’s PAINTED SKIN and John Woo’s RED CLIFF. She is not an action star by trade but has had some screen fighting experience in past film and television roles under the action direction of veterans like Corey Yuen and Ching Siu-tung.

Chen Kun (PAINTED SKIN) will portray Mulan’s lover. Child actor Xu Jiao will play the young Mulan and Russian pop singer Vitas will make a cameo.

Hong Kong director Jingle Ma thinks mainland actress Zhao Wei is perfect for the role of folk heroine Hua Mulan.
"Zhao Wei has the qualities necessary to cross-play," Ma told the Beijing Times on Tuesday at a press conference for the film "Mulan", where he announced the start of filming.

Previous media reports suggested that Zhang Ziyi, Michelle Yeoh and Liu Yifei had all been considered for Hua Mulan, a young girl from ancient China's Northern Dynasties, who joined an all-male army to fight the enemies in place of her ailing father.
But the role eventually went to Zhao Wei, whose notable works include "Red Cliff" and "Painted Skin".
The character Hua Mulan was popularized in the West by the 1998 animated Disney film "Mulan".

But director Ma thinks the Hollywood Mulan doesn't match his impression of the heroine. "Zhao Wei's appearance is closer to that in my imagination," Ma says.
Last year, Ma took the directing baton of "Mulan" from Stanley Tong, who was reportedly hoping Zhang Ziyi could play Mulan.

This time around, the gang - Azlee, Mazlan and Wahid go for a vacation to an island resort. Upon their arrival, they discover that the resort isn't what they had expected it to be. Setelah meneliti pelbagai destinasi percutian di dalam internet, mereka sepakat memilih Ariba Ariba Resort sebagai destinasi pilihan. Melalui gambar dan info-info yang diberi, Ariba Ariba Resort merupakan destinasi percutian tepi pantai yang amat menarik. Oleh itu, mereka mulai memohon cuti selama 2 minggu untuk bercuti.

Kisah bermula apabila Azli, Wahid, dan Mazlan sampai di jeti dan ketika menaiki feri, dompet mereka telah dicuri. This could be the ultimate in colorblind casting: Dwayne Johnson is supplying the voice of the square-jawed Nordic blond astronaut. I’m not sure why the astronaut couldn’t have been square-jawed, dark-haired, and Polynesian, like Johnson, but I guess that wouldn’t have been quite as effective as the stereotype of the Right Stuff jock flyboy.

There will be an overwhelming question in your mind as soon as this movie begins - are the characters of "Planet 51" stolen from other popular animations? The inhabitants are green like Shrek and the aliens look like B.O.B. from "Monsters vs. Aliens".

The movie chronicles the peace-loving denizens of Planet 51 whose lives are disrupted when an astronaut named Captain Charles T. Barker unknowingly lands on their home, thinking there are no lifeforms there. The astronaut (or rather, the alien, as he would be regarded) seeks the help of Lem (Justin Long) to return where he came from and avoid being captured by the Planet 51 soldiers.

To be fair, "Planet 51" does a boast a A-list voiceover cast. Other than Justin Long, you have Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Biel and Seann William Scott as Captain Barker, Neera and Skiff. However, the simple plot behind the movie is not as entertaining as one would have liked. Lem's labourious attempts to find ways to help Barker is especially tiring after a while and this is when the movie comes off rather boring. However, the assorted colours do help its cause.
